mod to make armor weigh less
As the title implies. Is there a mod to make armor take up less weight so I can get more ammo/heat sinks in. There are a few mechs from mods that don't really work right now because the armor takes up too much space and there is not enough empty slots for ammo and heat sinks. Is there a mod to help me out or a line of code I could change to tackle my problem.

edit. The fix to my problem is this mod.

Oh right, I use that too. I don't think it "Self-learns" (I've played hundreds of hours with it and seen no change in behaviour) but I do think it's a bit better than vanilla AI.

Really? Within the first few hours i saw the ai changing tactics to counter me. And running away or using ambushes. As far as i can tell it works pretty well.

I personally prefer to have my mechs at/near to the maximum armor. I think it's safer to have hardier mechs than heavier firepower.

I try to max out a mechs armor so they can have the highest defenses possible. I found a mod that fixes the issue i was having and does even more stuff. and it's not the mechlab mod i don't like.

I had a few mechs where between the armor and the invisible engine nearly half their tonnage was consumed which limited my weapon, heat sink, and ammo options so much that those mechs would not be usable. But again I found a solution.

The mechs speed and armor will still be what they are. So the mechs can still die from stuff but the mod allows me to really maximize cooling and using the biggest most beastly guns.

Hey OP, ever heard of this phrase? "The best defense is a good offense" you don't need to worry about armor if you deal enough damage to down hostile mechs before they can do any serious damage to you.

Personally, I do some slight tweaks to FF armor and Endo Structure, making them only take up 10 slots instead of 14 (and 5 instead of 7 for Clan variants and Light Ferro).

I also increase the armor per ton of FF so there's actually a point in it existing instead of just being infinitely overshadowed by Endo and XL Engines as far as weight saving goes

There are those times where there is 8 enemy mechs and a few vehicles trying to kill me and they all focus on me. So needing enough armor is a thing. Yes, with the mod i found to tackle my issue im now doing even higher dps and have great cooling. But again If i bump up the difficulty and get swarmed i need armor to survive.

The thing is im not using the mechlab mod which allows you to change out engines, structure, cockpits, gyros, and armor types. I tried that mod and well there was benefits it also had some issues with certain mechs. So i turned it off. I edited my first post for the mod that I found a few days ago thats a solution to those mechs which have their tonnage over consumed by the invisible engine and armor.

For example I had a 55 ton black lanner mech where the armor and engine ate 36.75 tons of weight. Well the mech has all onmi or semiomni weapon slots. It also doesn't have a ton of space for ammo or heatsinks. This made it unplayable. But with the other mod i found as a solution. I can use its op heat sinks to tackle cooling and consume less space. I can use the anti grave plates it creates to counter the weight so I can really power up its weapons. The only drawback to the mech now is at max armor its sitting at about 396. So its dps and cooling is strong and its fast on its feet for a 55 ton mech. But there is a limit to its defenses at that armor.

So, make use of available cover. I had to learn to play the game vanilla before even going into mods, so I had multiple times where the Centurion you're given in the campaign would literally lose its gun arm every engagement, the more you learn on how to properly position yourself to avoid damage like swing your torso so the Centurion's shield arm is the one taking the damage.

You can toggle a setting in YAML mods to actually change omni mechs' internals.

Otherwise dude, thems just the breaks of Mechwarrior. You can't have an infinite god mech that has super high speed, firepower, AND Armor. You get two, at best. It's a tradeoff (even for me with my slightly tweaked settings) and you're just ruining your experience by effectively playing ultra easy baby mode.

Exactly. Seriously calling an unbalanced modded mech "unplayable" because he can't have max armor and max weapons and high cooling... And then gets upset when people accurately point out he isn't "fixing a problem" but is just straight cheating lol.

You can absolutely have all three of those things... Just not on a speedy 55 ton mech. Maybe on a slower, lumbering 100 ton Assault.

lol guys i already beat the games main story without mods and played the sandbox mode for hours and did all those side missions. I'm not cheating lol. If i was i would just use a god mode i cant die cheat which isn't whats happening. This isn't a competitive game It's not a pvp game or the tabletop. Its not there to be a challenge. Even with the mod i found to tackle my problem i can take damage and die or put the game into the highest difficulty and die. Whatever the mechs armor or speed is i can't change. The heavy mechs in my hangar are still slow with tons of armor they just have better cooling and dps now.

I play games for fun and relaxation. Simple as that. I asked if folks new of a mod that wasn't the mechlab mod. That i could counter the wasted weight. And i found it myself.

The black lanner was unplayable before because its consumed weight from armor and the invisible engine was too much. It completely limited my weapon options and cooling so much that it was not functional at all.

I could have used just enough cooling and antigrave plats to make it more balanced. I just chose not to.

There are plenty of mods that reduce the weight of items on nexus mods. . .

Edit: And for the record, I only use half ammo weight mods because ammo weighs too F'in much. I believe anything else reducing weight is 100% cheating. You HAVE enough space for most stuff as is.
