Are you using Vortex?
no whats vortex im new to pc gaming
ill download the mod threw nexus copy the file and go threw this order C/prgramfilesx86/steam/steamapps/common/mechwarrior/mw5mercs/mods then paste. it will show in the manual mod folder within the game but no matter how many times i restart/refresh the game nothing shows up
is that just for organising mods and load order ? or does it help with actually downloading mods cuz the only ones i can get it show up in game are threw steam workshop

If a mod does not showing up there, then it is definately not installed. Make sure to resstart client after you have copied extraded mode folder to the mods folder.

Vortex ... is redundant bs

What mod you are installing?
i was able to get yaml threw workshop but it requires bobberts mod options which is what im trying to get threw nexus

You need to extract the mods from the archives. Copying the downloaded zip / 7z / rar files into the mods folder won't work.

Is there a particular reason you are using Nexus Mods? The game has had Workshop support for a while now and, as a modder myself, I can tell you that it's far superior because it interfaces naively with the game and auto-updates mods.

If there is a mod you want that is only on Nexus, I recommend installing it manually because it's a simple copy-paste.
bobberts mod wasnt on workshop but i was able to figure it out threw vortex

And forgets to auto-update enough that it's become a running gag across Steam (not unique to MW5). The number of times we have to troubleshoot "problems" by getting people to unsub/resub to mods to actually get them to correctly update is... annoying.

If you want to use Nexus for mods, I highly recommend doing it through Vortex, which is their program for downloading and installing mods (you'll find it on the Nexus site). It also manages mod updates.

Please don't install mods manually by copying files. It quickly becomes a nightmare, especially if you need to uninstall them.

As far as mod load order goes, Vortex automanages that, but it can be overriden. More info here https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/The_Vortex_approach_to_load_order_sorting

Oh it is so hard to open Nexus regularly and log in to find the updated mods.

Why are people incapable of making decisions and being responsible.

It's because Steam automatically updates mods for you just like it does games. Most people are used to that level of automation. Believe it or not, what you are asking for is considered an unreasonable annoyance in today's day and age and is evidenced by people frequently complaining as you mentioned.

Workshop supports mod collections which makes syncing mods with friends trivial. Good luck doing that with Vortex, I can't remember the last time Vortex has worked "out-of-the-box" so to speak. Usually, there is a fair bit of faff to go through to get it to see your game and mods. As more and more devs get onboard with Workshop, Nexus and ModDB should really be considered plan B.

Some modders here mentioned having trouble getting it to update. I have no idea what that's about. Steam has never "failed to update". It won't even let you start the game without checking vanilla and workshop content. Maybe they are doing something exotic?

As far as mod load order goes, Vortex automanages that, but I find I still sometimes have to manually change it for this game. You can't do that in Vortex, but there's another mod for the game that allows you to easily change load order (or you can edit a file).

^ THIS IS WRONG ^

Please, do not spread misinformation. Mods are contained in a single folder which must be placed in...

\steamapps\common\MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries\MW5Mercs\Mods

...then activated in the in-game mod manager. Uninstallation is simply the reverse of that process.
