However, this can all be done with or without YAML. What YAML does, among other things, is it provides a vastly expanded selection of equipment and mech variants, (including clan, if you have the respective YAML clan mods installed). Again, equipment / mech variants available on any given date in the game are consistent with Battletech lore.
If you want to see what mech variants are available in the future, simply use the game's TIMELINE command. However, before you do this need to install MECH DELIVERY, which allows you to search for and purchase mechs and equipment at black market values (marked up at least 100%). You don't have to make a purchase to search. And if you want to find out if a mech variant becomes available at a later date, simply jump to the date that you think the variant becomes available using TIMELINE, then use MECH DELIVERY to search for it.
MECH DELIVERY also include equipment, weapons and ammo as well.
Also, unless you are PC literate and are familiar with how user files are implemented in the game / mod, I would be very wary of any utility that requires a path... ...especially one coded by devs who do not bother to correct their own typos and neglect to provide a utility to backup said files. You would probably be better off doing it with DOS. At least that way you HAVE to know what you are doing and can backup files yourself.
Don't go looking into the base game files, lol
Having used YAML, I'm pretty confident about the ability of their devs. There's so much in it I never asked for, but wouldn't do without now. No bugs or crashes either. Haven't tried spawning mechs, but that's not exactly high level compared to the other stuff they have. Saving should be the only precaution needed.
