Will MW5 Clans have Knockdown?
Honestly tired of ballistics being lasers that are just worse in everyway but heat. MW3/4 big guns had knockdowns making quad AC10s on an Annihilator the most dangerous thing in MW3. Plus it also brings more depth and strategy to combat and mech building

Most likely not based on what has been seen so far.

I wouldn't care for knockdown in the game. Works for tabletop well enough but I can just imagine all the graphical glitches with mechs falling through terrain or getting stuck on things they just fell into.

Advantage of an AC over a laser in the game is you don't need to keep the AC on the location to deliver all that damage. Never cared for the BF ACs in this game, excluding AC-2BF which just throw out so many shots it's kind of fun.

Knockdown was in Mecwarrior online - it was removed because of goofballs abusing it. This means that PGI has experience with Knockdown - if they care to use it.

I fear the clans will not be the clans of Lore - But some silly modern version where they talk in Inner Sphere slang and curse like drunken sailors. Mechwarrior online is a perfect Example on how PGI can tone down clan mechs.... Lets also add - that on release - I expect Bugs Galore. :nwquest:

Easy fix for that, just have it be preset animations, similar to how Mech Assault handled knockdown it didn't matter where you were in terms of terrain, if you got knocked down from if I remember correctly Gauss and level 3 Autocannons you would be put into an animation which left you just as vulnerable as you can expect.

honestly i think the knockdown is a benefit as it will make you more conscious of the hits your taking and put the far of god into you when your facing certain mechs. in MW3 Mission 2-5 you have a medium mech and at the near end when you round a corner theres an Annihilator with quad lbx AC-10s and if you dont leg kill or knockdown immedately your going back to the mech lab. I just think that kind of risk/ reward is fun plus if Clans also has advanced Gyros to counter knockdown....

yea no.

modern mechwarrior games dont need knock down on ballistic's considering how AC's work now over like mechwarrior 3

yeah they act like lasers that use ammo, heat, have travel time, and weigh alot more for no real upside. i guess the fact that PGI mechwarrior games also have very poor damage feedback is also to blame. If you got hit by an ac20 i would atleast expect the mech to shake off my aim ore something but no.
