Is The Dragon's Gambit a better catch?
Rise of Rasalhague adds linear set of missions, and it adds the "rival mercenaries' feature which is simpler than it sounds: other mercenary companies have operating areas, and if you take a mission in such a zone there's a chance that they willl spawn in a lance (probably against you, but occasionally allied ot you). When you defeat mercenary companies, a meter progresses and you periodically get sent loot from somebody claiming to be a particular legendary mechwarrior. But, it's not like a fleshed-out system where there'll be diplomacy/negotiations with other companies, reputation with them that affects anything, etc.
