Convoy Destruction - Coyote Mission
I'm getting clapped. Lowish difficulty level with YAML, tanks set tp 1.0x hitpoint multiplier. I have completed this type in the past. Currently rerunning one with failure because it seems like don't have the speed and firepower combination.

Example, I can get my 64 kph Catapult LRMs there but it still takes a surprising amount of salvos to destroy just one of the 20 tanks. The rest of the lance is medium tonnage range.

Of course getting near the convoy extraction destination activates major defenses, so I try to drag my lance to range just outside its range.

Yes, that's the thing with Coyotes Missions - they're supposed to be harder.

All I see is that the AI is almost performing the same as you. Usually not a good sign.

Hard to tell what went wrong if you dont got gameplay of it.
Setting up a chokepoint ambush is the best bet on these missions. If you are gunna use LRM's you want high ground. If your using lasers or SRM's your gunna want to ambush around a hill or rocks.

Goblin did almost as much damage as your warhammer... In a phoenix hawk? There's a skill issue. Not trying to be rude, but it's either your builds or your tactics. Maybe a mix of both. Either go for enough alpha damage to scrap whatever you're shooting at, or do enough DPS that nothing stands in front of you for more than 5 seconds. You also took a lot of damage. I suggest using more ER lasers. They're the workhorse of MW5. Good at almost all ranges, powerful, and not too expensive. Engaging from longer range means you take far less damage.

It's a learning curve. When I first started, I had trouble keeping my arms and legs attached. Now I rarely take more than 100k in damages, sometimes even no damage.

That seems like a lot of enemy 'mechs for a difficulty 23 mission.

I mean, that's... 27 'mechs killed by your lance? I've completed an "Endgame Attack and Defend" mission from the same mod with fewer 'mech kills than that (granted, they would have mostly been assaults and heavies, and there were 30+ turrets as well, but still).

My lance is at the 200 weight limit so I'm just trying to maximize what I have to work with. I don't seem to have the combination of BOTH speed AND firepower to kill the incredibly tanky convoy in this particular mission.

I'm basically hotswapping control across the entire lance per momentary situation. For one example, it's done at the mission start to get out ahead and into position before convoy can get in extraction defense range.

My lance is having no problem destroying any of the mechs that are sent to intercept me. Even the Locust has no real issue soloing the "regular" armored vehicles.

Maybe it's just an outlier contract.

Also not sure where on the scoreboard the convoy targets went. It's like 18 super heavy tanks.

these attack convoy missions are the hardest:orccaptain: mission in the coyotepack, limited time to cutoff the convoy and when you start attacking not only do all the enemy lance shoot back, but the hole convoy...

The convoy tanks are counted as mechs due to some limitations in coding.
That is why it says you have so many mech kills.
It was the only way at the time i was able to get them dropped off via a dropship.

The mission also is a tad too hard generally speaking and does need a small nerf.

How could you make the attack a convoymission more balanced?

Just lowering the unitcount is always an option but maybe enhance it to give the player a more fair fight.

Maybe make the convoy stationary for 60 sec everytime a convoyvehicle is destroyed, so the player can fight, reposition and attack again; or create a secondary object, where you have to destroy a satellitedish to make the convoy stationary for some time.


Or

Normaly you attack an convoy with an ambush, so if the player would have the ability to put down some turrets or mines himself the mission would have a complety new feeling.
