Vehichles are tough
Tanks are very difficult to manage now. I played the game many times before and now in this play through it seems the tanks are just sponges for damage. Whats changed? Did the final dlc upgrade their defense significantly?
I literally remember one alpha shoting, maybe two alphas on tanks to destroy them. Now its taking 3 alphas of 4 med lasers to take out a tank. I'm getting eaten alive by the swarm due to taking to long to kill the tank swarm.

Everything got more lethal after the last upgrade., is my impression. But I think you might be having a mod issue. Things like Demolishers take several heavy wallops and always did and the light hovertanks take one good hit but are easy to miss (if it's a while since you last played your aim might be a bit off). If you have YAML you might want to check how tough tanks are set to be. I don't use mods myself but have seen something like this on the boards before.

I think by default YAML made tanks have 3x more HP but you can adjust that, that is if you are using that mod. Also do you use the Scary Tanks mod? that boosts HP as well.

they still go squish when you step on them

OP, you must be using mods because none of that came to pass in vanilla.

Scary Tanks merely overrides YAML settings. It also has the same default values as YAML. Note that multiplying vanilla MW5 armor values by 3 gives you the actual armor values of tanks and hovercraft.

I do use YAML, but not the scary tanks mod. I will look for the toughness settings of tanks. I looked earlier but didn't see anything that would change that.
Thanks for the responses guys.

YAML use the same setting as the scary tank mod. You can change the value in the intro screen where you select to load/continue a save.

yep, the multiplier values were on the splash screen, not in the actual game settings like i was looking for them.
Mystery solved everyone, thank you very much for your replies.

It is YAML. I also experienced the same thing never installed scary tank mod. Just restrart a carrier and Im not used to having tank far more tankier than medium mechs. How the heck is this thing just received two alpha strike of SRMs and still standing? I didnt know you can tune it down, i guess will check it later. Somewhere inbetween will be nice. Vanilla tank is too soft like tofu.

Tanks for base game are far more aggressive than before and shoot a little better but most die to 2-3 mlaser hits, one big tank you can beat on for a while before it goes down.
But if you are using yaml not sure there but tanks have gotten better
