Steam workshop :
Fire and brimstone (all three)
Cockpit glass
Cockpit glass damage
These are from the same mod creator
Nexus :
Ultra visuals and weather V3
Cockpit and mech HD mods
These are also from the same creator
P.s.
You will need a beefy pc for them
First off the comment made by Ryosuke is largely incorrect. Yes the game just updated, but a lot of mods still work as intended after the update and most of the major ones have already been updated.
Second here's a list of mods that I use on a regular basis that I strongly recommend. These are more Quality of Life than anything else. Where to find the mod is in parenthesis.
-Star Map Mouse Over (Nexusmods)
-Xenopax Optimize (Steam Workshop)
-vonHUD (Steam Workshop)
-Mod Options (Nexusmods)
-No Friendly Fire (Steam Workshop)
-TravelCost10k (Steam Workshop)
-Colorized Throttle Gauge (Steam Workshop)
-Colorized Heat Gauge (Steam Workshop)
Third, there are a couple of overhaul mods out there that you can try out as well (I recommend fresh career starts with these). The first one is the Yet Another Mechlab mod and its collection of optional mods, and the second is Xenopax Unification. I recommend you try both out and see which you like more. Both are also DLC4 ready.
My final input is if you haven't played the game through on campaign mode yet, play and beat the campaign without the use of mods. That way you can see what YOU YOURSELF OP would like to change with mods, and look for mods to tailor the game to your own personal needs/wants.
After the update I've been turning on key mods that don't seem like they'd interact with the new code and so far everything I used before works fine. I wasn't running a ton anyway.
I think a lot of people are making a big assumption because of mods being automatically disabled but that was across the board.
even apparent updated ones get turned off for me
Edit: scratch that appears to be working now, if you have but one out of date it switches them all off. atleast for me it does
The solution to this is to use a mod loader tool that sets up your game's mod selection outside of MW5. I personally use L.O.T.S and there is another one on Nexusmods called MW5 LOM V2. Just make sure the game version set in the tool is the current version of the game which is 1.1.335 and you shouldn't have the issue anymore.
That said, MercTech is still my favorite. If/ when it gets updated for DLC4 it'll be my new go to.
