Thankfully thanks to the Mechwarrior franchise we can fix some of its biggest flaws
I.E. ammo in the center torso
Realistically, yeah the arms are giant hitboxes
But its slot configuration leaves it to some great build potential
Especially of you run YAML and its sub mods. Course we gotta wait for them to update now.
But yeah I think its a rad design
Cant say much for TT though.
In the Succession wars most mechs are walking explosions. If you are scared of an ammo crit, are you really even playing?
Not scared of an ammo crit as such but a WHOLE lot more a a chance with Crud
If you are running around without CT armor, you're already screwed. Ammo just helps you go out with style :)
As an old grognard who played the tabletop game in the 80's the Crusader always had a place in my heart. I remember it's equivalent in Robotech and as the heaviest "Veritech" available in Battletech it was as close as I was going to get in terms of having it in a game.
It's not without its drawbacks but the old rules did a good job of making tradeoffs.
MW5 does a decent job of giving its mechs some personality vs. some of the other games where you could alter loadouts to be whatever to the point any mech of the same tonnage had no real distinction. Now the Marauder, another favorite, feels distinct from say an Orion.
So I'm looking forward to using the Crusader when I do eventually find one.
If you just love running around in a Steiner Scout Lance its not going to do it for you but if you have an appreciation for the different mechs you may actually like it.
I still avoid the Rifleman like the plague though.
