Care to go into more details about what is causing you trouble?
You have 2 view options in MW5:
- Cockpit view, which simulates sitting in a cockpit including "head" bobbing and the actual cockpit.
- 3rd Person view, which simulates a drone above your mech.
The new view mode will be a traditional FPS view, you won't see your cockpit, no head bobbing, like Counter-Strike or Quake. It will enable you to play smoother but less realistic. Instead of being the pilot in the cockpit, your camera will be the "cockpit-glass" with nothing around you that hinders your view.
From a gameplay perspective, the new FPS mode will be the easiest to play. The 3rd Person view has the advantage of seeing your surroundings better, but your aiming will be slightly off due to the view-angle because your weapons are lower than the camera. The cockpit camera has perfect view-angle to shoot your weapons, but has "head"-bobbing and the cockpit itself blocking your view. The new FPS mode will be like the cockpit view in terms of aim angle and have much better visibility. It will, most likely, be the most efficient way to play and shoot.
The only issue I've had with MW5 was/is how twitchy my controls are, and the game ignoring my efforts tailor that twitchiness' to my preferences. I agree that MW5 isn't a 3rd person experience, at least not for me. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting used to the patched game, especially since I'll be doing so on the first completely new gaming rig in over 3-years.
This is not what the OP is talking about. Hes talking about the new FPS controls.
And what it changes is the mech movement, to be more like a first person shooter.
Where WASD makes you move instantly in the corresponding direction, rather then the tank-like controls with throttle that currently exist. You want to strafe left and right behind cover? You press D then A.
This is something you can enable/disable in the options. By default it seems to be disabled (which is a good thing) because it does make mech movement way too arcadey imo.
What really helped me is an option called something like "counter mech rotation". Try it if you haven't yet, it might fix that twitchyness for you.
Have to say, though, that I don't use a joystick myself, any more. It IS more difficult to use than kb+mouse. But I do recommend having a go at it if you have a joystick handy and never have had a go at playing that way :)
EOF, I haven't used the F key at all. I was far too busy being disappointed with the way MW5 was acting with standard FPS controls.
owen8964, In the past I've had a great deal of fun with MW and MW-style games using HOTAS controls.
TBH, I suspect that some of my current problems are caused by an aging Z390-F, constantly shifting peripherals\drivers\invasive security software, etc. and not reloading Win10 from time-to-time. Since I don't have to meet work-from-home requirements any longer, I can spend more time making sure that the games I like don't start to act weird or begin to crash out of nowhere.
But I'm sure it's gonna come in handy for alot of people.
Regular FPS controls/movement would be more akin to a Gundam than a MechWarrior game imo
Real mechwarrior would use pedals for torso twist and joystick for "mouse aim" only in given field of view. It had to be a lock torso button instead of lock hands..
i followed a guide and used vjoy and UCR

Thanks for the post brother, looking at the setup data now. Another major screw up on my part was buying the Thrustmaster Wathog HOTAS, just knowing that its cost would automatically come with a contemporary setup suite. Boy, was I wrong! It's like trying to learn COBOL/RPG.
BTW, IMO Titanfall 2 is the perfect mix of FPS and Mech action. It's just one of the games that I lost recently due to the launch interface (spyware) craze.
