Throttle issue

I just loaded the game, and am attempting to do the tutorial but the throttle is stuck at maximum and I cannot get it to stop running. Any thoughts?

As i recall in the tutorial, the throttle stays full till you hit X.

You can also turn on throttle decay in the settings.

X was not working. I will try throttle decay, but the throttle is maxed without me touching anything which is a problem.

Without touching, that sounds like a issue with key assignment and maybe a key being stuck you arent aware of like a mouse button or joystick/macro pad.
