Sooo i just beat Kestrel Lancers, i dont get the negativity towards it.
So i was just taking it easy through the game, lots of random missions one or two high value and a few of the vanilla campaign . I have seen a bunch of reviews that were definitevly bleh about it or several claiming it wasnt nealy as good as the others, and some other ranting how it wasnt good at all. I really enjoyed it, frankly ingot started in it with my A team was a warhammer, champion, dervish, and quickdraw, and Kestrel Lancers was a MEAT GRINDER for that level if gear, but i upgraded a lot on the way through but soent a small fortune on repairs, but overall i thought it was really enjoyable. I dont understand the negative reviews.

What were your thoughts? Like ot? Love it? Meh? Hate it? If you are negatice, im curious as to why. Not gonna foght with anyone bit I am curious.

I liked the Kestral Lancers campaign itself, but I was on the very last main campaign mission when the time limit hit. I needed only a few days more travel time to get to the last mission hehe. The first time I hit the limit I restarted, the second time I just flew back there eventually after doing other quests and collecting hero mechs and stuff.

It's definitely a fine piece, especially if you are too experienced to find any of the vanilla stuff challenging. As you said, the campaign is indeed a meat grinder; a long and continuous campaign that push your limit would really hit hard for those ill prepared. The experience as well as the chance to actually be a part of succession war is one of a kind (especially knowing that clan invasion would never be officially introduced into MW5).
The negative reviews are mainly about the reskinned mission types (demolition vs scorched earth), PGI not fixing old bugs, DLC breaking mods and the fact it is not about clan invasion...

most of the negatives weren't directly the result of LotKL itself, they were primarily due to tangential bugs that the respective patch introduced, like the missing AC10 audio issue

i think common consensus is that the campaign itself is a welcome addition

It is not very replayable.. There is no reason to go out of the way to play it during a career run.
You get no special rewards or anything. Why do it when you can just go do high reward quests from hotis and get some hero mechs?

Because it's from PGI and even if it was free people would still complain that it was too expensive. Seems to be the fashion in these parts to Dev bash.

Pretty much this.
Although people were expecting PGI to add at least somehow a new Battlemech and I was personally hoping they'd at least add some new vehicle models to shoot at.

Thats not necessary true. You can get some good pilots out of it some with Vet skill rating meaning they can hit the broadside of a barn. The systems also offer some early access to 3049 Battlemechs like the Orion M and the markets in general are pretty good.
Since the HTM-27W visual glitch is still there, this DLC doesn't deserve any praise.

It was fun. Not sure if it was worth the price, but it was stupid fun, so maybe it was.

People were expecting more and what they got was a rushed release from PGI :oink: that had bugs that where obvious and should have never made it past Quality Assurance.

Even Now I believe PGI :oink: would be very hesitant to openly visit this forum. They would be strung up a flag pole... Along with some sort of... Mud marks on their undies or similar catastrophe.

PGI :oink: still has not fixed this yet??? ... Where is the flag pole and mud. :nwquest:

I just dont think its enough for the time investment the player has to put into the quest in comparison to the hotis questlines.
Its an opinion of course, but i tend to think the CAR king crab from stop the launch is in every way better then anything from dlc2.

I thought it strange that the historically well known and extremely well defended fortress world of Tikonov was easier to capture then the the follow up planet where Comstar very likely made a false flag attack on their own HPG station. The whole campaign has some strange highs and lows for difficulty but at least at the end I came out of it with more and better mechs and gear then when I started. Also I got to ♥♥♥♥ on the Capellans, and that's a reward all by itself.

It could have been a bit longer, but I did enjoy it. Yeah the fortress world being easier than the HPG place was a little odd.
Hadn't seen the HTM issue, but then again i haven't even seen a HTM in game yet, hell the last one I remember seeing was General Rintoshi (i think) in Ghost Bears Legacy, but I did look it up and they should fix their issues but that mech does look rather meh, wasn't it also from Heros?

This is what I think of Kestrel Lancers, also a copy paste of my review for the game;

"It's clear now that Kestrel Raiders was the intended release state of the game and that we just got juiced for more money. They just charged us for them to finish the game, fix bugs, and round out fights on map. All should have been done before release and not double charged for."

Before Kestrel Lancers the fights are a joke and it makes me want to write a scorching paragraph grinding that guys proverbial bones to make my bread. But it's probably not their fault they wound up that way. It's their parent's fault. Bad parenting =D
Scooty Feb 20, 2022 @ 2:11pm
So ya I just chalk up PGI to bad parenting.
