By Cold storaging you cut your time and cost in half. Pop it into cold for a free and instant wipe.
Then put it back and Rebuild Loadout with new stuff and New devices.
My Example is an AS7 D.
Install Tier 5 weapons takes around 180 Days from its base tier 1 stuff. Installing all devices is another 85 days.
To change out the AC for an LBX The srm for an LRM + art and the LRM for a system with ART when they come available. Dropping single sinks for doubles. and Adding more armor. This is 120 Days + 180. "300 days man" Toss it in cold for a free insta wipe.
So dont knock the system. Exploit it XD
2) In Battletech Canon your dropship can only hold 4 mechs. It does not have any form of cold storage or extra room to hold more than 4 mechs.
3) Mods have already been made concerning this so-called issue. Whether or not they have been updated to recent patch - I do not know.
Im not talking about weapons either. Im talking about the upgrades done to the engines and the targeting and what not. The things you get for killing X amount of Battlemasters or going and finding Y in Z system. Those would be hardwired into your mech, not something that would be taken out and removed. Something that increased your jump time by 10% wouldnt be a piece of machinery you removed when you put it into storage. Its ridiculous to have to pay for those things every time you want to reinstall them, and as far as fixing that? That would be the easiest fix ever for someone who knew how to do it. Your not changing any major code or adding any animation.
And as far as doing my own research, excuse the ♥♥♥♥ out of me for asking on a forum about the bloody game. My bad for thinking people were actually helpful and giving them the benefit of the doubt that they would just answer the question and wouldnt be a prick just to be a prick but of course, theres always someone like yourself to prove me wrong.
Have a beer is my suggestion :)
There are mods that will save the upgrades to your mech - tighter missile clusters, faster projectiles etc.
There a mods -(Yet Another Mech Lab YAML) -try Nexus - that allow you to fiddle - I don't use it
The developers did what they did - they don't come here - build a bridge - no point applying real world logic - get the mod
Tbh, I never felt repairing salvaged mechs for resale was worth the time and money cost.
I do take some weapons from them, but not everything.
I'm aware, but OP said he does it for resale, which I don't feel like it is something worth the trouble and costs.
If he just sold the salvaged mechs, he wouldn't have to put his active mechs in storage, but that's more of a personal taste thing, not gonna tell him how he should play. I do wish he got back at me with some numbers as to how lucrative it is though.
In the end, and as other have stated above, mods are the solution so the game can be to his liking.
