Javlin first mission
so restarted the game since i got the DLC, but on the first mission the harasses seem so hard to kill more so than i remember them doing. it took 6 full focus med laser shots to kill them i remember it only being like 2 or 3 at most.
Is something wrong or am i just miss remembering things ?

Are you aiming for CT or legs, rather than just shooting all over the mech?

Laser damage falls off at range, are you shooting them within their stated max range or over it?
its the small vehicles you fight i'm on about normally fire for the side armour, think a bit of both i think i tend to wait till im in 270 range before firing sometimes i fire over because well i forget the range sometimes. but even up close it seems there taking more punishment than i remember, and my mech is taking alot of damage from them.

A Harasser SHOULD take only a single alpha for the Javelin, assuming you manage to keep the lasers mostly on them during the burn.
okay something is deffo up then. i had the lasers on it fully through out the burn and it took about 4-6 full burns to kill them for some reason. maybe my mods are mess with the dlc ? but don't have anything that changes things like that.

also noticed that the helicopters were taking 3 full beams to kill them a bit ago too something really seems up
i thought it was fixed and its doing it again there tanking 2 ac 10 shots and and several lrm 10 shots too i dont have a clue whats happening any more
funnily every other enemy is alright now tanks die easier than them for some reason

Where do you normally shoot hovercraft? CT or legs?

This is why I love the community... anyway, you could chalk it up to your low energy score, the low number of lasers the jav has, or like has been explained the damage drop off which is fractional like in MWO.

Same thing happened when I started playing, think they need 4 lasers but the jav only has 3 so it seems like youre going way OTT hitting them with 6, its just badly designed from a gameplay perspective.

The Javelin you start with has 4 lasers, grouped to fire two at a time.
(by default, of course.)

*shrug* IDK I played like 2 missions and went to the DLC mode because I was bored.

Point is the same though, 3 possible culprits.
i guess its CT? sorry did not really understand what CT is. got to say though on my current mission it took 5 lrm shots to kill one were as a light tank too 3. the five shots most of the missiles hit im so confused haha.
it was basicly took six shots of lasers for them for it to die. i started again and it was only taking 2 shots and the went back to alot its weird

CT means Centre Torso, but its irrelevant when talking about Harassers which are vehicles.

If youre getting weird variances in damage its probably range.

The way it works is you have a max range and an effective range, Im *pretty sure* the range in the mechbay is the max, and the one you see in the weapon info at the bottom right while playing is the accurate effective range where you will do 100% damage.

Both ranges are effected by the environment which the game explains slightly, so in rain or snow energy weapons have shorter ranges and do less damage, and the first mission in the campaign is in the snow.

But thats just my impression from what I know of the franchise and MWO, but its the most likely reason based on what youre saying, so next time try and shoot within the range that it tells you at the bottom right while in mission.

Also, its obvious but I'll mention it just in case, vehicles have different levels of armour, a scorpion will take more damage to kill than a harasser or warrior, igors and partisans being some of the hardest, and its possible that different variations of particular vehicles can have different amounts of armour making slight variations in time to kill.
Vehicles have parts. Shoot the less armored parts and you kill them faster. Propeller on heli's, and the turrets on tanks all have less hp than the armored bodies. Harrassers need to be shot high on their tank for full damage or in the rear.

In MW for as long as I can remember they never had parts, you can tell because the icon for them that shows where they are damaged changes colour across the entire image rather than locations.
ah see probably something like that then seeing that my lance mates seem to have no problem probably just on my end then. One thing ill say about the DLC is its made the game even harder never had trouble with early missions when i did not have it now at rank 3 the game spawns a hunchback with a AC/20 BF that ripped my cents arm and torso off in 2 vollys and some of the defence mission are insane, with spawning light mechs that just zurg the base and if your lance mates follow it they end up destroying the base just as much.

making me regret getting the bloody DLC at this point
