That's poor implementation. co-op partner games do not progress and they get nothing out of it... only the host. That's pretty bad.
To answer your Discord message, since you figured playing the "my opinion is really important so I'll say it everywhere till the game gets changed to what I want" thing as many places as possible would make it more important:
No. You share the gameplay experience, not fat l00t.
Just leave the game my guy. No one's holding you hostage in the host's game.
Their pilot skills improve over time and they can play with their mech builds, while you find new missions and take them there.
This isn't meant to be a Borderlands, Warframe or Destiny clone. This isn't PoE where you stash tab after tab of loot and currency. You all win or you all lose, as a mercenary outfit, failing and succeeding is a group affair with this game. The intended aim of the game is to enjoy stockpiling equipment and 'mechs accrued as a lance over time, cooperatively, not as an individual.
Edit: 3 words
It is very unusual for a game to partly give progression to some players, and not to others.
For those saying "you shouldn't need a incentive to play", that's your prerogative, but it's not an unreasonable expectation. The Dev themselves give incentive to play. The host gets progression / rewards.
This happened to me the other day, we thought it was terribly funny until I got the 2 million repair bill.
There's really no reason co-op partners can't get some sort of c-bill reward for their saves. It really wouldn't be a big deal.
maybe the modding community can solve this problem
