Raven?

They got all the Raven variants? Only thing ill pilot. Are they even good in this game? I had someone tell me most the light mechs suck in this wanted to double check first. Never been a fan of the bigger mechs in mechwarrior they look retarded.

Lights are actually pretty good, can't say I've used them at the highest difficulty, but they definitely can work over stuff well above their weight class.
Partially due to the dodge stat I think, but they avoid alot of dmg, and can hit pretty hard with some loadouts. Unsure about different variants but I have one I can do good work with a couple high tier medium lasers and srm4

The Raven is in the game not sure which variants are in the game since I just got to the time in the time line where they are being introduced but here is a list of the variants that should be in the game. RVN-2X, RVN-4X, Huginn, RVN-1X, RVN-3L. I don't think the lights are bad to play but the AI can be weird if you run about in a light as they will try to keep with you unless you keep telling them to go to certain points. But with a friend or two it can be great, as long as it does not cause you to be extremely under tonnage for the mission. If you want Ravens fast you will want to pick the later start time in the Career mode, other wise you will have to wait about 15ish years in game to for the Ravens to start to appear.

As of 3049 (and completing the game), I've not so much as seen anything but the 1X, and thats with having spent half a decades in and near Liao space. Other early variants are mentioned, but Ravens are, in general, rather rare.

Sadge I loved tormenting people in MWO who played heavy/assaults in my Raven I looked it up and only saw someone with a Hero variant so i guess ill find out when i get into the game thanks to xbox game pass lmfao

Yeah, Ravens seem super rare in the game. So far I've only encountered 1X as well, but the 3L is in the game. Whether or not you can get it is a different story, but you can pilot it in instant action.

There're a couple of scripted missions with multiple Ravens in them. The last RFL-DNA mission stands out, as there are 2-4 ravens in it. Whether or not the variants in said scripted missions can change depending on year is unknown.

The raven hero mech is god tier, You can set it up with an SRM 10 and I've killed assaults in it, you just run circles around them at 129 km/h and they miss every shot. I mostly only use this for demo and raid missions though, because it's so fast, has good jump, and machine guns tear up buildings.

When you get access to the Raven 3L that thing is a monster. The thing is though they don't start really showing up till post 3025 and even then they've got gimped tech.
