& even then I'll tell you who I'll believe, its me, listening to what the developers said in the pre launch Q&As, looking at both the critic and customer reception post release, looking at Reddit threads over the years, looking at what people comment on MWOs Steam announcements.
At the end of that, what was it that I heard... developers constant "no" when asked about expected features or content which I and others commented on in the Discord, critic reviews that were barely lukewarm and only held up by the freshness of a big MW game hitting the shelves, user reviews that were livid at how horrible the game was at launch, Reddit threads complaining about bugs and how boring the game is, MWO Steam announcements filled with hate to PGI and barely anything else as they now can barely get double digit numbers of comments which is a sign of engagement from the community.
Believe the devs when they say their game is awesome and not the plebs who say it sucks...
Epstein definitevely killed himself...
You cant compare mw5 reviews to mw2 reviews, you just cant, the world is different and the gaming world is saturated with similar quality games AND metacritic arrived far later... people review games they hold close to their heart from decades ago... of course they give excellent scores. The fact mechassault has 8-9 on it is proof its a load of crap, mech fans hated mech assault at the time. I personally think mw5 is pretty good and am looking forward to the dlc.
well said....me to...i be my own judge
As you can see MW2 isnt a 10/10 even though you say "of course they give excellent scores" and "I was there when mw2 came out and like everyone else felt like it was the return of the messiah", but it only has a rating of 8.4, a similar score to MW4, another very beloved game in the franchise with 10x the reviews and matching critic reviews.
Maybe I misunderstood the above though, because to me it sounded like youre saying you cant compare the two scores because MW2s is inflated by fanatics but you seem to also justify it having a high score in the same breath by seemingly saying you and everyone though it was some the 2nd coming of christ, which seems like a contradiction.
Well MW2 in particular only has 4 reviews but the score lines up with general sentiment so you cant say its far off the mark if at all as is, so I think its fair to compare against MW5, panned from east to west outside of a minority of people who think its a good game.
Should now understand why MA and MA2 have high scores, because numbers dont lie, only purists hated it, for others it was babies first experience with battletech in a trimmed down format that was actually very fun with an interesting MP mode and an engaging story.
If nothing else these ratings are indicators to build from.
MW5 is a lot more limited and the story is quite abnormal compared to the rest of the series. But it has a lot of freedom associated with it, and is a lot of fun in it's own way. I do wish the game had more variety to it. The missions do feel chaotic, but in a bad way. You feel oddly disconnected with the world in most missions
Like one of my favorite missions from MW4 was actually a 2 part one that was coastal defense. It was interesting, it made you feel like you were a part of something. You were defending this refinery(I think) from a combined assault, you had defensive turrets to back you up and you were the primary response team to shore up defenses where they could falter. You had to do the heavy lifting, but the turrets could actually do a decent amount of work if you ensure their survival. The closest you had in MW5 was a few allied AI that might help you or more often than not, just act as decoys for you because they were often just light/medium mechs. Often it felt like the aggressor factions tended to outnumber the local defenses 20-1.
Only sheeple follow reviews.
You did watch the actual cartoon, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPtt0O9RIGc&t=295s
tbh im surprised that pgi got at least a decent game together. played their online game mwonline for a while and lost all trust in their competence. dont forget its a really small studio, you cant compare that to the early mechwarrior games under microsoft.
Wrong decade. The early games (MechWarrior 1 and 2) were 1990s and they definitely were not crap.
Sorry, you are right. MechWarrior 1 was released in the 1980s. Carry on.
