What the hell?!
Yeah I don't understand this part either. If I play two hours solo and then invite my friend to a coop game and we get new mechs and progress, can't they use them too?
After finishing these, you can explore the map to your heart's content, join or invite to co-op, and so on. It's the same formula as HBSBT in that regard.
Co-op is all host-centric. Host dictates what missions are taken. Participants can use any mech host has, or modify them based on host parts, but can not in any way bring parts, mechs, etc. from their "own" game. As the bulk of the game is, I'll be the first to admit, basically a random-gen instant action buffet with a light management meta sprinkled on top, there's no cutscenes to miss or big dialogue tree options to participate in.
Host can give participants ability to pick mechs and fit them from host's garage. What you're saying hasn't been the case since the first big patch like a year and a half ago.
So apparently they all play the game, but only after the host plays the two hours solo first. And then the host-'s progression is everyone's progression, which I guess is fine if they can all use the mechs.
I wonder if there is a "skip the two hours solo" mod to jump right into coop.
That's dumb... It should be able to use your own stuff... AND have missions that are made for coop
I though it would be a complete game with campaing coop missions AND side mission and being able to bring your progress... disappointed!
This was a EpiC ♥♥♥♥ store exclusive at some point too ???
As the game is largely a sandbox, with the campaign being a VERY loose glue to motivate some sort of progression (though you can progress just fine just doing nothing but procgen missions), I don't really see any lost value in my co-op teammates not being able to watch an NPC talk about supplies being low or something.
To me it sounds like it IS a co-op campaign where you can do do everything you can in SP, it's just that's it pure co-op all the way through. So if you just want to play co-op that should be fine, but if you and your friend(s) you want to play some co-op here and there, and some singleplayer that won't work.
Personally that's fine for me as I tend to make singleplayer campaigns in co-op games if I want to play more outside of the co-op campaign.
Someone please correct me if my understanding is incorrect.
