adding mods from nexus to MW5 game folder
I have downloaded mods off the Nexus site to add to the game folder for steam. when i try to install the mod ingame; it wont let me for no apparent reason that i dont freaking know why. it keeps giving me the option to manually install a mod folder which doesnt even work because the mod is a .pak file. now idk if im suppose to put the f**king .pak file of the mod in the Paks folder of the game itself. Please help because im trying to look at videos about this and they just keep saying "Epic games folder in programs folder". I DONT HAVE A F**KING EPIC GAMES FOLDER TO DO THAT. ONLY A STEAM FOLDER.
Please help

Steam version doesn't have "Mods" folder in main game folder?
\MechWarrior 5 - Mercenaries\MW5Mercs\Mods
Like that one?

Make sure it's in the Steam folder, also make sure it has been updated recently. Earlier mods will not work with the DLC update.

Enable mods from the mods menu in the game.

Dude, chill.

For starters, the destination you want is...

SteamLibrary > steamapps > common > MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries > MW5Mercs > Mods

If the MW5Mercs folder doesn't already have a folder inside called 'Mods', just make right-click and make one called 'Mods'. There's no magic involved in making sure you have the correct destination folder in place.

Next, you are downloading manually off of the Nexus? Those files come as archives, either RAR or ZIP. Use your program of choice to extract the archive, usually 'Extract Here' works best. You'll get a folder that shares the mod's name, and it will contain further folders for Paks and Resources, and a JSON file. You want to take the ENTIRE mod folder, and copy it over to the mod directory listed above. If you go in and try pulling out the PAK files themselves, they're not going to work, cause you'll be breaking the expected directory settings and the game won't be able to see the mods properly.

A properly populated mod directory will look something like this if you are doing it correctly.

If you open the 'mods' section in-game, it will create the folder for you in the appropriate location if you have not done so already.

And of course after all of this, don't forget to go into the Mods menu from the title screen and toggle your mods on to actually enable them. Then you'll most likely have to restart the game client for them to take effect as well.

Its not giving me that choice to do that when i do go to the mods section of the game. It keeps giving me the download mods from the Steam workshop, refresh mod list and Manual Install folder choices only.

I dunno. Are you doing something stupidly weird, like installing and running the game on an external HDD over a USB cable?

nope.

When you click on the button to open up the manual install folder, what does that folder look like? Can you get us a snip or a screen grab?

1) Do you only have .paks in the mod folder? Some of the older Nexus mods may not be updated.

2) after toggling them in game are you also activating them before exiting the mod screen? Before exiting the mod screen you need to toggle AND activate the mods. Once this is done you will get a red arrow circle letting you know you need to restart the game.

If you go into game and go to mods and click on add mods manually it actually makes the

SteamLibrary > steamapps > common > MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries > MW5Mercs > Mods with a file in it, it did for me.
