Marauder II and salvaging
I've been wondering if anyone has come across the 100 ton Marauder II's in the game that they were able to salvage. I had come across some that I had taken out but couldn't salvage for unknown reason what so ever. Plus has anyone managed to find both variants of the Marauder II? the one I've came across is the MAD-4R only, let alone managed to buy one over in house Merak by sheer luck (currently own rn in-game).

I salvaged the one you fight during the DLC mission where you get the Victor-BSK Hero Mech. It literally just sits in cold storage...it's just an Awesome with extra armor that takes up more of your available drop tonnage.

The variant isn't any better, unfortunately. It swaps one of the energy slots for a ballistic slot, but only a medium, so you can't put a Gauss on it. You end up with an Awesome with extra armor and an AC/5 replacing one of the PPC's.

Honestly, with so few weapon slots on the MAD-II, I struggled to use up all the tonnage. Max armor, leave on all 6 tons of jump jets, put 3 PPC's and 2 ML's on it, and start loading it up with Double Heat Sinks. In the end, I was putting on regular heat sinks just to use up tons and due to limited slots. I think I managed to get it up to 99 point something tons.

So, off to cold storage it went so a real mech could take it's place.

I salvaged one somewhere, but don't remember where. Unlike Maahes, I use it, because for some reason it doesn't die as often as the Awesome it replaced.

Well...it wouldn't. It has a lot more armor. But, for a 100-ton mech, it's severely lacking in firepower and flexibility. If you don't have a 400 ton drop limit, you'd probably be better off bringing the Awesome and some other stuff in it's weight class, as opposed to the 20-ton heavier MAD-II and something much lighter.

I just prefer KC's, Atlases, and even the slow version of the Banshee over it. So much more firepower, same speed and armor.

I'll happily take the MAD-II over the Annihilator though. Even with the cantina mission +15% speed, it's too slow to be fun.

Just my opinions. I don't like the regular Marauder either, for the same reasons. Both mechs are all style (the DO look cool) and zero substance, compared to others of the same weight.

theres 2 of them in game both are in hero missions, the easiest one to get is in the story misisons "bring her home" make sure you have max standing with davion, and your reputation is above 10 and you should be able to get around 40 poiuts for salvage, make sure you mutilate the marauder 2 as much as you can before killing it to lower the salvage cost, if you dont get it at salvage screen reload the mission and try again until you do

it comes with 2 lb 10-x autocannons, which are way better than gauss cannons, also moves faster, can jump unlike the awesome, and has more armor

Ah ok. how did you come across the other variant? i havent had luck at all. plus every bloody time i come across the Marauder 2; i kill it but never get the chance for salvaging it. even after blowing off almost all of its weapons and destroying the CT. Im running mine with 3 Cap ER PPC's and 2 MPL's with alot of heatsinks and max armor.

was talking about the victor, the marauder 2 comes with 3 large beam slots 2 medium beam slots and 1 small, comes with double heat sinks, and has jump jets, also is a 100 ton mech
PocketYoda Jun 29, 2021 @ 6:30pm

It has better armor and cooling. But the hardpoint is really bad. You have all those free tonnage but nowhere to put it.

It is the only assault mech where i use JJ because i dont know where else to put all that tonnage.
Wayz Jun 29, 2021 @ 10:27pm

Yeah, I was talking about the MAD-II being nothing but a heavy Awesome. I LOVE the Victor-BSK. LOVE IT. Pilot it all the time. It was the sole reason I went to do that mission. To get it.
