Almost impossible missions early game
so with the new dlc and new maps ive started to encounter some almost impossible missions.

first mission after intro missions i got a defensive mission where im supposed to protect a base, but for some reason the arty around the base is active AND HOSTILE and. it takes like 4 rounds from my ac10 to destroy each gun and theres 11 or 12 of them.

another mission i encountered early in career in a rep 3-5 zone said to destroy a base but the base its SUPER tough, it had only a few outbuildings and most of it was a mechbay that took FOREVER to destroy, im talking 6 plus shots with a large laser per wall section or hundreds of rounds of machine gun ammo. destroying EVERYTHING inside and outside the mechbay only brought the base down to ~50% it took like 15 min to do enough damage to the main building to finish the mission all while under attack by waves of reinforcements. it took me 20 tries or so.

In base destruction missions it saves a lot of time if you also use your mech to stomp through everything, it's often much faster to destroy buildings this way than using the weapons due to them having cooldowns. The longer you take, the more enemy waves you'll encounter.

By that I mean seeing what Mechs, Loadouts and Mods you have got running.

im well aware of the walking through buildings tactic, not always the best choice especially with lighter mechs due to the speed loss but it didnt work here regardless.

no mods, mechs in first mentioned mission were a cent jenner and Javelin, couldnt step on the arty. loadouts were default

second mission mentioned was a phoenix hawk, and 2 javelins, couldnt walk through the ground level walls of the mech bay, shooting them didnt seem to work either only the second story and up was damageable. as far as loadouts they were default with the exception of removing the jump jets for more armor and heatsinks so LL MLs and machine guns

i got this mission yesterday.

the outside wall is indestructible, even airstrike does not destroy them.
but fortunately the upper wall is not. i use AC/20 BF and spread the ballistic all over the upper wall. running around the base and shoot.

the enemies keep coming, and it's look like tight to the base health. like every 25% health decrease, more enemy come. by the time only 10% health left, even more enemy :squirtooh:

yeah thats the building, took me 20 tries to do enough damage that i could level the rest and run, reinforcements would spawn every couple minuets, thank god i had primarily energy weapons but still that was too damn hard for a 5 rep mission, map should be higher just based on building toughness. a lance of lights with one medium cant do it fast enough.

There is this one garrison for demolition i will agree with that is really tough to destroy early game. Its the small one with a indoor mech factory.

It took me around 15 minutes and had to kill around 16 enemy mechs and 20+ tanks.

I just dont accept demo contracts in the early game right now unless you have mechs outfitted specifically to destroy buildings quick.

Couldn't you have used that airstrike to instantly destroy it?

Also in these stupid moron missions, when you shoot out the lower parts of the mech hangar, the rest of the structure doesn't collapse!! The base just hangs therin Midair....

the airstrike dosent do enough damage to actually destroy the building parts, also figured out you CAN step on the arty but have to do it at the front not the back unfortunately the arty focuses the objective so its at like 20% by the time ive stepped on them all

just walk through the arty, it destroys it instantly and you take zero damage from it, i bring a hero commando in my current save to swap to and sprint through the arty when it appears

like i JUST said i figured that out but it still targets the base and does between %50 to %80 of its health in the meantime. and just because theres a solutution that might work sometimes dosent mean that this kind of stuff in the game is OK

seriously if im supposed to be defending this base why is the arty HOSTILE

Enemies had them set up prior to your arrival and were bombarding the base?
IMO, the "mech garage" buildings are glitched.

First, it's almost immune to laser and flamer.

Second, even if the lower walls are all destroy, the upper walls and roofs are still floating in the air instead of collapsing down.

And the most important, in the mech garage destruction missions, enemy sends 2 dropships every minute, tons of enemy reinforcements make the mission extremely hard to beat.

I have noticed that SRM's can really wreck those factory/hangar walls with ease. But yeah, those buildings are weird to say the least.

AC20, heavy rifle and PPC are just efficient as well. But you'd better save 2 or 3 negotiation points for air-strikes, since you'll want to finish the mission quicker.
