Report a translation problem
By that I mean seeing what Mechs, Loadouts and Mods you have got running.
no mods, mechs in first mentioned mission were a cent jenner and Javelin, couldnt step on the arty. loadouts were default
second mission mentioned was a phoenix hawk, and 2 javelins, couldnt walk through the ground level walls of the mech bay, shooting them didnt seem to work either only the second story and up was damageable. as far as loadouts they were default with the exception of removing the jump jets for more armor and heatsinks so LL MLs and machine guns
the outside wall is indestructible, even airstrike does not destroy them.
but fortunately the upper wall is not. i use AC/20 BF and spread the ballistic all over the upper wall. running around the base and shoot.
the enemies keep coming, and it's look like tight to the base health. like every 25% health decrease, more enemy come. by the time only 10% health left, even more enemy

It took me around 15 minutes and had to kill around 16 enemy mechs and 20+ tanks.
I just dont accept demo contracts in the early game right now unless you have mechs outfitted specifically to destroy buildings quick.

Enemies had them set up prior to your arrival and were bombarding the base?
First, it's almost immune to laser and flamer.
Second, even if the lower walls are all destroy, the upper walls and roofs are still floating in the air instead of collapsing down.
And the most important, in the mech garage destruction missions, enemy sends 2 dropships every minute, tons of enemy reinforcements make the mission extremely hard to beat.
