Any downside to using mastery tokens?

I have enough tokens to finish remainder of weapon masteries. Just wondering if there is any reason I should do them all myself or if I should just use the tokens.

Only reason I can think of is just slight bragging rights, because your left over tokens would be evidence that you perhaps did more than average Joe.

There are no downsides. Mastering everything by yourself is just an extra challenge you might or might not want.

No downside! They just help you progress faster and get some of your weapon mods maxed out faster and help for the ingame milestones and Steam Achievements. However there are only a few tokens in the game (only 5 or so and some are well hidden) and if you want to use them you have to decide on what to do so, because some weapon mods require quite a bit of farming to master and can become tedious, so the tokens offer a farming free single weapon mod maxing solution.

There are 7 and just like about any other secret in the game they are pretty easy to find. Since the game will show them to you in the map and allow you to fast travel to collect anything you missed. The idea behind them is that the devs don't expect you to be able to upgrade every mod in time for the end game, but they still expect you to swap out mods during gameplay regularly. Those tokens are there specifically to help you catch up.

You have 7 weapons which together have 13 mastery challenges. Those tokens allow you to upgrade over half of your upgradeable arsenal
