Best mod for every weapon? (In your opinion)
As you know, there are 2 mods for each weapon (With the exceptions of the SSG, Chainsaw, BFG, and Unmaykr), but which of the 2 mods do you think are better over the other?

in most cases:

shotgun - sticky bombs
plasma rifle - heat blast
heavy cannon - precision bolt
ballista - arbalest
rocket launcher - lock-on burst
chaingun - shield

but the others are important in many situations too, especially as high level play; like faltering demons with the rocket launcher's remote detonation or plasma rifle's microwave beam

Personally I like:

Shotgun - Sticky Bombs. Full-Auto I like a a concept, but its implementation is bad. One of my first Doom mods I made was a gatling-shotgun for Doom 2. If it has spinning barrels it needs lots of ammo and needs to fire fast.

Heavy Cannon - Precision Bolt. The micro-missiles might be fun, but it's just too necessary to snipe the weak points on Mancs, Revenants, and Arachnotrons.

Plasma Rifle - Heat Blast. Kills stuff and turns my plasma RED!!! Phoenix likes red.

Ballista - Destroyer Blade. Yeah, the Arbelest is usually favored, but a well-placed Blade shot can just massacre a line of demons. Plus it's red.

Rocket Launcher - Lock-on Burst. If you want to cheese an Archvile throw a freeze bomb and use LOB.

Chaingun - Energy Shield. Once it's fully upgraded it becomes a battering ram and is super useful for Barons and Tyrants. Toss a freeze bomb, shield up, start firing, dash into the super heavy twice, dump two grenades, release the shield, blood punch, and finish off with a meathook + SSG to the face, and if for some reason that doesn't do it, a quick Ballista shot, dash-away and LOB WILL finish the job.

Those are my favorites. Your choices may vary. :The_Slayer:

Heavy Cannon - Precision Bolt: Best mod in the game. Insane functionality for weakpoints and by far the most powerful mod in quickswitch combos. Set it to something easy to reach and cancel your ballista, rocket and SSG shots with it as much as possible. Missiles simply can't compete at all.

Chaingun - Energy Shield: Insanely powerful and you don't even need to fire it. Comboed with dash, Blood Punch and flame belch melee damage throughput becomes absolutely insane and safe without even firing a single round. Can buffer after glory kills and chainsaw to make both completely safe - 4 second cooldown and long active period makes it almost always available when needed.

Rocket Launcher - Remote Detonate: On demand falter is amazing - LoB feels wasteful in most cases.
Combat Shotgun - Sticky Bomobs: I like and use them both but Sticky is functionally better.
Plasma Rifle - Microwave Beam: Use for mini stuns and to pop marauder dogs.
Ballista - Destroyer Blade: Requires encounter knowledge but setting up destroyer blade blasts can end huge encounters instantly. Both mods feel superfluous otherwise.

Shotgun - Sticky Bombs. Good for fodder control and pb quickswapping.

Heavy Cannon - Precision Bolt. Has insane quickswapping potential and allows you to produce the highest DPS in the game by far.

Plasma Rifle - Microwave Beam. I very rarely use the Plasma Rifle in general, but the Microwave Beam has its niche uses. Blowing up a shield soldier, getting close to a Cybermanc to blood punch it, stunning possessed demons, and killing Spirits.

Rocket Launcher - Lock on Burst. On its own, there isn't any reason to use it over quickswapping. But it becomes much more useful if you know the fast lock on tech. It lets you perform two lock on bursts for the speed of one.

Ballista - Destroyer Blade. It's still crazy to think how long this mod went unnoticed. It arguably takes the most skill to use of any mod, but it's capable of basically instakilling most heavy demons, and hitting a ridiculous amount of them with a single shot. Definitely one of the more broken mods once you get the hang of it

Chaingun - Energy Shield. This is the one mod in the game that I genuinely think is too strong. 360⁰ protection, recharges quickly, lets you blood punch almost any demon with no threat whatsoever. Not to mention it can produce surprisingly good DPS and falters if you shield dash

The ones I like:

Full auto, because cool. Stickies in the early main campaign.
Remote det, more versatile than lock on, but I switch for certain situations
micro beam for stun and health readout, also you don't have to shoot the gun to charge it
shield like everybody
pb for its power, but I like the missiles and use them sometimes
destroyer blade
the unmakyr, because you can work it into combos, it's very strong but not a panic button like the BFG, which I still use sometimes in certain levels (taras nabad ml, mars core ml, world spear ml)

blood punch all the way, yes it's not a mod, but love it so much I have to mention it

Combruh Shotgun - Sticky Bruh, just cannot get into the Bruh Auto

Bruh Cannon - Bruh Missiles, but the Precision Bruh is a VERY CLOSE second

Plasbruh Rifle - Microwave Bruh, but Heat Bruh is handy for stunning

Bruhcket Launcher - initially the Lock-on Bruh, but I am really warming to the Remote Bruh

Bruhllista - Destroyer Bruh, use to prefer the Arbruhlest, but switched when I learned how to deploy the Destroyer Bruh

Chainbruh - Bruh Shield, used to prefer the Mobile Bruhrret, but now I know the true value of the Bruh Shield

Subruh Shotgun - Bruhhook
Bruhsaw - Yes
Bruh Hammer - Yes

I care not for using the BFG (Bruh F*ck*n' Gun), Unmaybruh or Crucibruh anymore. Cheap one-shots and over-powered, unless I am desperate.

Combat Shotty- Sticky bombs. Full Auto is fun but sticky bombs are so powerful and full of reliable utility
Heavy Cannon- Precision Bolt. It's very cheap, rapid and deadly.

Plasma Rifle- Both. There's use cases and utility arguments for both. PR is probably the most balanced gun in the game mods wise. Heat Blast is like a Swiss army knife, Microwave Beam gives those nice quick stuns.

Rocket Launcher- Lock On Burst. Way less fun that Remote Det but you can't argue with pure raw damage, very useful for the bigger bullet sponges.

Ballista- Destroyer Blade. Arbalest still has its uses, I think The Holt is probably a great example where it shines. Destroyer Blade is pretty insane though, it's essentially a mini BFG. Even if it's less accessible than Arbalest, it can be exploited to do some ludicrous damage and trivialise encounters, along with just being way more satisfying.

Chaingun- Energy Shield. The Mobile Turret is okay and satisfying to use but Energy shield's unique use case and insane utility is undeniable. It's a better defence than Ice Bomb.

Counter Points:
Auto Shotgun is great against the Marauder, also great in Famine Mode.
Microwave Beam is very helpful in TAG and the Master Levels.
Micro Missiles can dispatch DooM Hunters quickly as they by pass their shields.
Destroyer Blade once maxed can one shot carcasses which become really annoying later on.
I run Blade rather than Arbalest myself.

Rocket Launcher Remote Detonation is the mod to run on Battlemode, pretty helpful in the campaign, however Lock-On makes short work of whiplashes and Dread Knights.

Auto Turret can demolish Baron's of Hell very, very fast.
