Did they remove the rootkit yet?

But a rootkit is very serious. Even YOU; an Admin on your own computer have a lower access level to your own computer than the kernel does. The kernel (Ring 0) is the very core of your computer's operating system. Gaining access to the kernel grants unrestricted access to everything.
So a game probably shouldn't be using it...

hey did u know all ur hardware drivers, ur anti virus software, ur firewalls, defragemntation software, ur monitoring software are all low level software so they all must be rootkits as well?!

And besides, most ACs have kernel level access. The only popular one that doesn't that I know of is VAC and that's complete ♥♥♥♥ (which is why Overwatch exists in CSGO)

Anti cheat can exist server side, which is what people wanted as opposed to forcing rootkits on every player to combat the few who use them to cheat.

server side anti cheat cant prevent ring0 cheat software from working.
they never forced rootkits on anybodys pc! DAC isnt a rootkit software. it never did what a rootkit do!

VAC doesn't actually block any cheats because most of them are used with Linux computers, where the anticheat isn't as efficient or effective there.
