Apparently people hate the doomicorn skin... .and i want to know why

I don't think Doom was ever too serious, just consider some of the fun the original id had with the concept, story lines, sound design, level design. If anyone believes they were cultish super serious guys, they've never read any interviews or watched their answers to questions.
Quake was supposedly a little more serious, but only a little. So something like fortnite dances doesn't really fit a game like Q Arena.
Besides, Doom Eternal fully leaned into the goofy with all this edge lord - written by a 12 year old plot stuff they put into the game. So I really don't see why a unicorn skin is harmful.

I have the Doomicorn maxed out. Playing through the game with it is hilarious because Doom Slayer is just so badass that no matter what he wears he's so terrifying to just about everyone anyway that their reactions are priceless in their utter seriousness. Think about it. What would scare you more... someone dressed in tactical gear that you know you have no chance of winning against coming to take you out, or someone you know is at that level dressed in something utterly ridiculous that flat out DOES NOT GIVE A F*** coming to take you out?

I also reject the idea that unicorns, sparkles, and pretty colors automatically equate to gayness. Rob Halford is gay and was wearing leather, spikes, studs, and chains decades before coming out and that look went straight into the metal mainstream. The leather and spikes look was then taken to be "manly" and "tough" yet had its roots firmly in the gay scene. No pastels or unicorns there. In fact, outside of attention-grabbing parades and protests you probably won't see many gay people dressed in rainbows and sparkles.

Besides, are YOU going to tell the Doom Slayer he can't cosplay?

It's a gag skin created to get attention, the slayers canonical appearance is very controlled and fits tonally with the universe he's in, but a bright ass unicorn will rip your eyes to it by contrast from a mile away, It did exactly what it was meant to. It's an optional skin for the type of person who likes that kind of thing, for everyone else it can be ignored or at worst collected by never used. Anyone else is reading far too into it and is quite frankly insane and should get help or just consider a single one way ticket back to the void.

Someone doesn't remember the insane ♥♥♥♥ you saw with spraytags in HL or custom models in Q3 engine multiplayer games.

Personally, I'd rather devs curate stuff like the Doomicorn skin than see giant walking pink schlongs or Homer Simpson in Quake 3 with busted-ass hitboxes, or random porn and racist ♥♥♥♥ as spraytags.
