Slayer Gate playthrough: comments?

This is the Arc Complex Slayer Gate challenge, which I haven’t beaten yet, it’s tough. The playthrough is impressive but it’s interesting what he doesn’t do (or so it seemed to me): doesn’t use flamethrower or grenades, barely uses alt-fire modes, no fancy modes like slo-mo. He uses the base shottie on heavies and sometimes his aim is not great. He hardly ever uses chainsaw for Ammo and I don’t think I saw him throw a blood punch at all. Well, it worked for him but what do you all think of the technique?

Get minigun + get mobile turret = Slayer gates cease to be a problem. Aside those marauders...

If I played like that guy did, I'd be freaking massacred. (the fact that he's using a controller may excuse the slow aiming, but that's it) My guess is he was on one of the easier difficulties.

The best advice I can give is to treat this slayer gate like a marathon, not a sprint. ESPECIALLY on higher difficulties.

For an example, here's my successful attempt on Nightmare mode. You'll note how I pick my spots to attack, make liberal use of my equipment and dashing; guerrilla warfare at its finest.

Very impressive! Good discipline! Effective weapon-switching! It was close; you were down to 5 Health at one point, two thirds of the way through.

Yeah, that's Nightmare for you. All it takes is one mistake and you're in a world of hurt. (what wasn't recorded was attempts 1-3 ;))

The game gives you many tools for success, don't forget to use them all.

I've been thinking about doing some Slayer gate videos. Some of them are really difficult, especially for where they are in the game. I found the latter ones rather easy to do, but the 3rd and 4th Slayer Gates were mental if my memory serves me correctly.

nothing is stopping you from attempting the gates once you have your full arsenal of weapons and suit upgrades... at end game with mission select its not cheating...

But for the arc complex gate rocket launcher with quick lock and quick recovery is your best friend keep tossing grenades and ice bombs when they become ready.... The way that guy was playing is just blah ... use the chain saw use the flame belch use the blood punch it helps huge....

by the time you get to the slayer gate in the arc complex you should (or hope) to have the SSG with mastery this helps huge and if used properly will make openings with movements if you keep your eyes open...

Another helpful tip is keep moving lol make circles around your foe and use the portals to teleport from one side of the map to the other let the demons rush and crowd in on you and then take the portal wait for them to follow you to the other side blast a few to death then take the portal ....rinse....repeat....done.

The arc slayer gate, mars core, and taras nabad are hands down my most enjoyable slayer gates..

I had to train myself to use the Blood Punch when it’s available. Not to do so, like not using the flamethrower on hordes of fodder demons, puts you at a disadvantage that can be decisive in the harder battles. Perhaps because I haven’t really done a lot of Slayer Gates or Secret Encounters (or whatever they are called), I have not achieved any weapon mastery yet. I am at the end of Arc Complex and 5/25 towards getting sticky bomb mastery by bombing turrets on Arachnotrons.

they were fun but stil pretty easy on nightmare.
