But Classic did have platforming to though despite not jumping and even some platforming to skip parts of a level
I would advise using the air control rune to give you better control in the air you can adjust where you are making landing where you want easier and maybe the Chrono strike rune to slow down time as you need to do a key shot, remember with chrono strike it wont start to recharge until you use it all, it will show how much is left in the rune part of your hud.
it is much more forgiving in this game with mistakes. keep at it and you will get it

In my opinion this is a complement to DE. The movement system in q3a was groundbreaking at the time, and it's great even by today's standards. Very few games got anywhere close to it, and yeah I also think DE is up there with it.
