Bethesda.net Account -------> Must i get one just to be able to play DOOM Eternal?
Wonder if someone can tell me if I need an account in order to log in just to be able to play in campaign mode. So, I bought the deluxe edition with the 2 expansions, season pass and base game. i downloaded and installed just the campaign and deluxe edition and it still came up to about 88GB. I have tried checking the Ancient Gods I & II plus year one pass but it will not download them. so, i start the game and it comes up to the title screen and then a splash screen asking me to log in to my Bethesda account. it says something about needing a persistent internet connection for online and DLC. I go to their support page and in the FAQs about DOOM Eternal, the question " why cant i play the campaign mode after i installed the game? to paraphrase the answer was: some times you cannot play the single player mode after installing depending on your platform. you have to make sure that both campaign AND battlemode are downloaded and installed in order to play the campaign " I need someone to un-convolute or non-circalocute the statement i just read because ^ L ^ THAT MADE NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SENSE. So, do i need an account that i didnt have to get when i got DOOM (2016) in order to play the campaign mode?

I needed to make one, the why am not so sure, but in the game they do events all the time where you get skins and stuff for playing so many levels at X difficulty etc. so it's probably related to that. And Ofc the multiplayer.

If you disconnect from it go offline while playing it tells you your progress won't be counted so am pretty sure you can play offline if you want to.

Creating the account would have taken less time than creating this thread with all that you wrote.

You don't need internet connection to play the game. In fact, sometimes, the Steam network goes offline, and you get an in-game message saying something about the progress, but you can keep playing, and it keeps track of where you are or reached. The only thing that gets messed up when the stupid Steam network goes offline (but this is not really Doom Eternal's fault, but Valve's) are the hours you played that are shown in your Steam account. I honestly don't understand why, if the Steam network goes offline, even though you have internet connection, you can't play a game online, even if it's connected to Steam. It makes no sense. I don't understand why such a big limitation exists.

The idea of having a library of games or a place where you can buy all games is nice, but Steam is not just that, it forces you to get dependent on it. It's way worse than having to create a Bethesda's account, which you will rarely have to interact with. So, I don't really understand why you're so worried, given that you use something like Steam.

You won’t get any cool skins if you do that, tho!

I've just bought the game too. It's not that simple. I already have 2 Microsoft accounts, both forced by stupid, unnecessary services, like GFWL etc. Why would I need another, 3rd MS account, just because of branding? Bethesda IS owned by Microsoft. An MS account should suffice, especially one that's been linked to gaming for about a decade or more.

Thinking of a refund, while remembering Gabe Newell's words: "Piracy is a service problem, not a pricing problem."...

If you want event goodies, then yes. For multiplayer too, I guess. If you only want to play sp and don't care about skins, you can play without.

well there's only 1 good skin in the game, and it's for the slayer. battlemode is nearly dead. no reason to do any of the events

There are weapon skins that I really like. But sure, if they weren't a thing I wouldn't miss them. "We didn't have them in 2016 and we were fine back then!" (Me boomering)

Not mandatory to play single player anymore.
So no.
Anyone know why all the sudden Bethesda account by automatically log in on other games? I've created my access to DOOM Eternal couple days ago and when I've jumped last night on Fallout 4. The game have found my linked account and registration and logged by itself to Bethesda(dot)net. Isn't that a little weird?
