Same thing happens in windows though. Its harder to tell in windows alone, but turning on HDR just in windows makes things look a bit faded or washed out.
From what I understand, HDR in windows is just a mess overall.
HDR in general has been a mess in PC configurations entirely. Its really specific the crap you have to do to get Windows to recognize your setup as HDR ready. Drivers definitely play a big role in this. And yes having dual monitor completely disables HDR in PC setups which doesn't make sense to me , specially if both monitors are HDR capable..
You can even plug in a full HDR TV and install all the specific drivers and Windows will still not see it as HDR ready most of the time. Just ridiculous.
And if you do get HDR to work, good luck getting it to look like proper HDR you see in high end TV's. When I play 4k HDR movies on my computer I have a really hard time configuring it to look good with any of the top media players out there. I usually just end up saying F * it and transferring the file to my PS4 pro to play it which handles HDR like a champ.
HDR in this game looks pretty good. I suppose the issue is more on your end.
The LG 34G850 monitor is what people consider a HDaRen't monitor. The peak brightness output is at 400 nits on this one. HDR10 usually starts at 1000 nits for LCD monitors.
This sounds more like that your TV doesn't recognise the HDR. Does a small pop up appear when you start the game? It should be something like "HDR Content being displayed".
HDR is definitely working on the TV's end. It lists the detected signal as HDR, and it works absolutely fine on all of the other games I've tried that support it, like Forza Horizon 4 and Shadow of War.
And to answer other comments above, it's the only monitor connected to my PC. I've tried reinstalling the drivers from scratch already, but I'm giving it another shot today
But does the popup show up when playing Doom Eternal?
Yep, it does. It turns it on in Windows when it is enabled, the TV lists the input as HDR and if I launch a second HDR compatible game, then that will work.
