Really? Blood Swamps sounds so different to me from the rest of the soundtrack. They very nearly dropped the djent sound Gordon was going for at least in that level.
When you finally get "old" (35-40), after listening to thousands of other OSTs, you'll realize that it's crap.
We all go through that phase.
Yeah it's different yet it had no impact on my enjoyment of the game. Personally, I think the importance of music in Doom is quite overrated. The game would still be a masterpiece with all sorts of different music/sundtracks.
There is no single trace of Deathcore. The music is heavily modulated with a lot of noise, synths and layered guitars apart from the core sound. The synths MAKE the sound.
it's not just some "Riffs" playing in the background.
The music is superb. Cyberpunk 2077 is on the same level when it comes to combat music, if not better. That game has a legendary and godlike OST, from the Radio, Ending Songs and obviously in-game music.
The music has to fit the game, and it does. There are a dozen other OSTs that are great, with different genres. Final Fantasy, NieR Replicant/Automata, Shadow of the Colossus, Bloodborne, Persona, Silent Hill. And the list just goes on and on.
And while i am not really into "Metal" per se. I do like Crust Punk and heavy Feedback.
There is no single trace of deathcore in the music. Deathscore sucks hard,
Yes, it has a light djent sound to the guitar and riffs, however that isn't the primary source of the sound, it's just the basis and fundation for everything that is layered above it.
What comes ABOVE it is the primary source of what makes the music good.
If it is your "opinion", then i don't have to take it or leave it. I can argue with it. Because it's an opinion, not a fact. If the music was just based on guitars alone, it wouldn't be anything to write home about. But it isn't. The small amount of breakdowns do not correlate to deathcore, the breakbeats and breakdowns in Doom are too short and small for anything that would be considered deathcore or even influenced by it, because the djent sounds themselves do this. The riffs themselves are very simple, but very effective, again, due to the modulation and layers of sound above it.
It's not about the raw sound, but the post-production and how everything stacks together after it has been layered with the guitar itself. It has more bass and the electronic components actually make the end sound. It's those elements that make the music great.
