DOOM Eternal

DOOM Eternal

データを表示:
Micro-stutter on all laptop RTX 40-series cards (4080/4090 etc).
So I have several Lenovo Legion new laptops, with Core i9-13900HX, 32GB DDR5, and 4080 or 4090 RTX GPUs. On all of them, nothing I can do will solve the micro-stutter/frame-time spikes in this game or Doom 2016.

Are the developers aware of this, because it makes the game really unpleasant to play, despite a locked 200fps in game.

If you're using the in-game frame limiter then that's most likely the problem. Pretty much any modern game that has it's own frame rate limiter will produce odd frame time behavior which will cause stuttering. The best solution is to turn off any frame limit in your graphics card's settings, then set the in-game limiter to unlimited, and cap the frame rate with an external program like RTSS. This will fix the majority of stutters in this and other games unless they're UE4 titles then good luck cuz they stutter no matter what you do lol.
Enable or disable "present from compute" in video options.
Thanks for the replies. I’ve tried both Nvidia Control Panel frame rate limiter off or on. No difference. I’ll check “present from compute” this weekend when time. Thanks.

Same problem on my 4080 laptop.

That's it. That option works perfectly with Doom downloaded on an SSD, not HDD.
This helped me: turn off VSync in the game. Turned on VSync and triple buffering in nvidia driver.
Thats how you should do vsync, especially when using gsync
I've tried ALL suggestions in this thread. Still runs with micro stutters. Any other suggestions?

Not sure if its maybe a NVIDIA issue cause I also have an 4090 and no stutter what so ever.
Do you have a browser open in the background?
I noticed that under special circumstances opera and chrome are causing micro stutter in games for whatever reason. Close everything else and see if its still doing it.

Try older nvidia drivers or try the Studio version instead of the game-ready one.

Can you please turn on the frame rate statistics and look at your frame times? If you see the numbers switching to red and yellow often, perhaps you’re just not sensitive to the issue?

Also please bear in mind my desktop 4090 card has no issue. My 2x 4080 laptops have issues with this game.

I was just trying to give you tips, its up to you if you want to try them out or not.
I have the Lenovo Legion 7i Pro/4080 and I think I have managed to solve this issue by disabling Vsync in game; enabling it in the Nvida control panel and by ticking the 'override high DPI scaling behaviour' box in the DOOMEternalx64vk.exe file in the compatibility tab. Hope it works for you too.

As stated, I've tried everything in the thread till now, and it doesn't solve the issue. Thanks.

Just tried this, and... no dice. You can still see in the stats the "Frame Max" is still far too high, in the red and yellow most of the time. I set the Override high DPI to "application."

Guess these laptops just can't run the Doom games for some reason.

If anyone believes they've solved it on your system, can you post a video of those statistics showing the frame time max? My frame max is always fluctuating between 6ms (frame rate locked to 160 max) and 30-40ms. Frame-rate is stable on average, but the micro stutters are awful. With the frame-rate unlocked, I see over 200fps, 5ms frame times, with spikes to 25-30ms causing the stutter.

That's odd as I seem to be getting a smooth experience @144fps with a relatively stable frame time of 6.9ms (no spikes above 7.2ms). The only thing I've changed since purchasing my Lenovo Legion is the McAfee antivirus software that came with it, so could it be that that's causing this issue?

Thanks for the reply. Can you by any chance post a short video of the frame-time graph included in Doom Eternal in the statistics option when toggled on? I currently have 2x Legions with the 4080, and I've also had a couple of the 4090 systems, too, - and so does a buddy of mine. We all have the exact same issue, so this is a mystery to me. McAfee was removed right away. Even some details on what other settings you run would be helpful, e.g. dGPU on, or hybrid etc etc. Figuring this out would be joyous.

Thank you.
