Reach the portal: get to the escape pod

I've been stuck at this point in the game for months. All the videos I've watched show the floor gate leading to the laser room unlock after killing all the demons in the Combat Encounter, however mine refuses. The map shows the encounter still active, but I get the checkpoint and there's no demons around. Anyone run into this and have a solution?

I've only had that happen once in the Mars Core Master Level, not in the campaign one, and there was no way to fix it, I had to restart the level.

If it persists even after restarting the level, then you could try for example the Meath00k tool ( https://wiki.eternalmods.com/books/3-command-console/page/meath00k-commands ) to enable no-clipping to get to the next trigger.
