When I play the main campaign stickies are the clear victor for the first few levels. It's one of the few mods that is good without even putting points in it, it just works. It's ammo efficient, one bomb does good damage to multiple foes and it can break weakpoints. And, I almost forgot, is the best thing against Cacos AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME (full caps for the "DE forces you to play one way" crowd).
Full auto on the other hand is borderline useless without points in it and only becomes good when mastered, because the ammo consumption is too much for the damage it does and getting ammo back is almost required. Many would say it's still useless because it's outdamaged by basically every weapon swap combo and maybe even by a simple ssg shot to the face.
But I like it, and since stickies lose their place in my rotation as soon as I have other means of AOE damage (more grenades with faster cooldown, the rocket launcher) and - with the ballista - another ranged weak point destroyer that goes well with the precision bolt, full auto suddenly earns a place. I begin mastery at the beginning of Super Gore Nest and finish it mid Arc Complex, just for stickies never to be used again. Or very rarely when I feel like going old school on a Caco or feel overwhelmed by two marauders supported by Prowlers.
But why am I using full auto when so many other things do more damage? It's just cool to finish something off with it, and I don't feel the need to use the most efficient meta stuff, I'm just having fun this way.
TLDR: Stickies are more versatile and do good damage to multiple enemies. They are a must early game, but (at least for me) obsolete from early mid game on. Which leaves an open spot and I fill it with my trusted old full auto, useless as it may be.
Grappling to fodder then switching to full auto mid flight also means you get 20 armor for free, which is a small but cool thing.
You should use whatever you feel comfortable with. But stickies should definitely be your first choice on a campaign UN run. In DLCs and MLs you have all your arsenal, so it really doesn't matter beyond your preferences.
I use remote detonation for that. But more on this in your next thread I guess.
For me full auto, pb, microwave, remote, destroyer and shield. But I find situational uses for every mod except turret.
Yes, it absolutely would work. It just doesn't fit my playstyle.
I honestly full auto during UN, on fact there's some videos on profile from TAG1 using it.
It's just a lot of fun.
