yeah I know those maps and yeah they already looked like Destiny or Gears of War stuff and felt out of place.
I was glad none of that stuff was in the SP campaign, I really don´t know if you played any Destiny that is the style of that game, so cheesy fantasy stuff and I just hate it lol.
orbital was the one with all the jumping around outside of atmosphere?
that was cool, that was okay, reminded a bit of dead space...but the other ones nah..
Hell can be considered a name for a dimension or state of something that just fits this description or name.
For example if we found a planet and explored it and found it to be looking like a manifestation that comes close to how old christian artists imagined it to look, maybe its explorer names it Hell.
And just because something resembles Hell, doesnt mean it has to have a counterpart.
Ever remember that heaven and hell is an outdated very easy to dismiss concept that has a very fixed understanding based on people that tried to imagine it to be in a way they think it might be. Just because someone (like Dante) imagines something to be in a certain way, doesnt mean it could be that way.
You know, it can be a oneway ticket.
Its not necessarily a black and white thing.
From story trailer: "If you continue, you'll bring down the Heaven's wrath"
That implies heaven might be final levels of Eternal and last boss fight would be some powerful angel who will eventually taste the bite of Crucible/BFG shot (I'm fine with both).
I personally like the idea of expanding DOOM universe into that territory. It's always a diversity in enviroment, aside from UAC and hell. And from story perspective, it gives a lot of ideas to touch upon.
Can it be 22nd November already? :(
Artistic-wise, while Hell's environments in 2016 were inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński's gloomy, depressing landscapes, Heaven seems to be very Giger-esque...minus the sexual imagery. The architecture looks like it uses some highly advanced technology, and the Khan Maykr, which I suppose is some kind of high-ranking angel or something?, almost looks robotic. So the whole techno-Heaven aesthetic is pretty neat, imo.
Gameplay-wise, it will be definitely be very cool to traverse a place we've never been before in a Doom game. But what will the enemies in Heaven be like? Obviously the big robot angel lady/the Khan Maykr will be a boss, if not the FINAL boss, but will we be ripping and tearing the rest of Heaven's denizens as well? Will there be smaller "robot angels" that are regular mobs? Will there be a return of the Cherubim from Doom 3, but as actual cherubs instead of baby-fly hybrids (probably not, don't think ppl will be too happy with being able to rip off the heads of baby angels...)? The possibilities for new enemies and levels is exciting. :)
Lore-wise, the Slayer will probably do something to piss off Heaven enough they become a new enemy for him, or vice-versa. From what it sounds like, Heaven is apparently content to just let mankind die out, supposedly as punishment for our sins. The Slayer is not letting that happen, of course, and his determination to save what little remains of the world is making Heaven real peeved off at him. So, for one reason or another, DS ends up in Heaven and presumably resumes his furious rampage up there.
...well, we'll just have to wait and see how all this comes together, but my interest is definitely piqued. :)
No I didnt play destiny because I dont like looter shooters...
I like doom because of the awsome graphics, very good distractible AI system and of course the insanely fast weapon switch...
and yeah Oribital would look medivle compared to "heaven" in doom eternal.. you saw the teaser right.. it just looks alien and complex with a unique syle.. c'nnot call it cheesy
WTF is literal demons?
you how many types of demons there are in human fiction...
christianic, jewish, chainese, japanese, indie ALL
hell and heaven isnt like one thing its not a none its an adjictive you give a place that resambles or a paradise or a terrible place
Maybe in doom eternal they literal demons and literal hell and literal heaven but they all are physical places that dont works or exist cause god said something but because they evoulved to it...
it just makes more sense, its a story it can expand upon the meaning of hell and heaven and make an own different version of it...
Demons from hell come from hell, but there is no necessity of there being a two sided world and no dependence to have both.
Its fiction. Hell is fiction and heaven aswell.
There could be a hellish planet with demon like aliens but theres no need t ohave a heaven and heavenly creatures.
You realize that you are talking about a purely fictional topic here? Which is why Doom is simply a one-sided interpretation where only Hell exists and that Hell isnt a biblical hell, its a science fiction hell. More of a metaphor than a depiction of a middle ages hell interpretation.
Hell is not necessarily a location, its a state of mind.
Let me add that DOOM2016 demons and hell is clearly inspired and based on the fundamental judeo/christian version.
Demons before monotheism were just as likely GOOD guys.
The most prominent example would be Pazuzu who got really famous for being the demon that possesed the girl in the "Exorcist".
In reality, Pazuzu was a helpful wind deamon in ancient mesopotamia especially well regarded by pregant women. Kind of sad what happened to his (and his like) legacy especially after christianity was established.
in doom 2016 hell is an alien civilezation that exist in another demansion that inheld something called argent energy which is an importent reasource to hell, they can create from it porals heat energy, and reganartion.
Hell is a plauge spicie which takes control over a whole world and obtain it to their own..
we dont jnow if hell is a one planet or a sollar system or just a demantional riff but it is quite big.
And its true leader is hidden and run by hell preists, dark lords and in other word by a lot of entaties.
when hell obtain and concour a world they copy and take whats was special about that civilezation and use it as their own.. if its technology or living spicie.
we can see that in doom eternal hell didnt only converted human technology to their army but also humans them selves!
Hell also wasnt always like that.. once they were much weaker organization until they own a war with another argent energy users.
So as you see yes there are some references to christian hell when it comes to Dooms Hell
But it doesnt act like it at all... its not a static place... it wasnt made to punish humans its Just an alagory.
wich is not bad tbh
