same happens to me but it was after the bethesda and id software intro that the game would freeze in the click to start screen and i couldnt get into the game so i found a solution that was just to turn off that intro:

Open Steam client.
Find Doom Eternal in your library.
Right click → "Properties".
On "GENERAL" tab click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS".
Type in:
+com_skipIntroVideo 1
and hit "OK".

you can find more tips on this guide (very useful guide):

I had this problem. Set resolution to borderless window and turn off any overlays you have on (steam, discord, ect.)

Well, I'm having this issue, nothing works... played around with the resolution in nvidia experience, borderless and window, discord is not running, added the doom excutable to defender exclusions, reinstalled the game, nothing. Black screen, background menu music, and the fps indicator (with a normal value around 70 fps).

I didn't change anything on my hardware, could this be a driver issue, like someone suggested on another post?

For those of you that got it working, what's the nvidia driver version?
Thanks!

it's a adriver issue. it was working for me until driver 572.70; the quick fix and the next upgrade have not resolved the issue (the same one, music is on, just black screen)
