DOOM Eternal

DOOM Eternal

Statistiche:
Is Denuvo Malware?
With recent concerns from Valorant anti-cheat messing with the registry and always running even out of game, I and others want to be informed before updating and installing it.

"Denuvo by Irdeto is a GDPR-compliant third-party data processor and it’s in our best interest to avoid collection of any personally identifiable information. Unlike other anti-cheat solutions, our Anti-Cheat solution does not take screenshots, scan your file system or stream shellcode from the internet. We collect information on how the OS interacts with the game and send the information to Amazon-hosted servers for cheat detection."

Yeahhhh...no.

Only idiots, or ill intentioned people, believe this corporate small talk.
people play battlemode? seems like reverse evolve 2.0.
no deathmatch, not a real doom multiplayer

It's always on now, it wasn't in the game until today, at least not in the form it is now. I had to change my review to negative and after close to 113hrs playtime, I've uninstalled due to this. I wish you the best on it, if you choose to play anyways.

The game is great, what Bethesda just did to it is what will kill it.

86 hours here, uninstalled after today's update. Will keep uninstalled until they fix this malware-like anticheat.

Also, this thread here is a good reading to see why a kernel-level software is a very bad idea:

Thanks for the link to that thread. It's disconcerting that steam just has an update button with no explanation of whats happening to the average consumer, the typical player wont browse the doom forums.
Messaggio originale di Kailen:
Is it malware? By definition, it's anti-cheat, so it absolutely will mess with the performance of your system. To a literal degree, all anti-cheats are "malware".

Denuvo in specific has a very bad history of negatively impacting use performance, while not actually doing the task it claims to do. But that's the DRM side, not so much the anti-cheat side. Plus, even that DRM side, if configured correctly, has a minimal - even negligible footprint on your system. With a game as optimized as Id has made Doom Eternal (this game runs - or at least did before this patch - beautifully on a potato), I expect that they wouldn't just slap the default configuration and let Denuvo be maximum resource hog. That's something lazy developers (ex: Gearbox) do.

That doesn't mean I'm happy with this. Denuvo is absolute cancer as far as I'm concerned. But people are exaggerating with what it actually does.

I was on the fence too with Valorant's anti cheat but after my CPU temperatures disappeared from HWmonitor I downloaded Core temp (thats how the program is called) and Vanguard wouldn't let me run it. Apparently Valorant's anti cheat disables CPUZ which reads your PC temps. Don't fall for the "There wont be cheaters" There will be, Valorant has them with their rootkit anti cheat, Doom will too.

I know cheaters are annoying, I'm CS GO player, but don't let corporations tell you what you can run on your OWN computer.
Yeah Denuvo is malware. Straight up malware. Bethesda should be ashamed tbh
Let's see:
-it installs like a bundle of unwanted software(with your game)
-it affects your PC performance
-like any other DRM, it insults the customer assuming you're a delinquent.

Last point isn't in common with malware. Go on telling me how full of s**t I am, I purchased the game and recommended it, but I only deal with Denuvo if the game is totally worth it. Everything else needs to get rid of it and a big discount (as punishment but also a little chance).
Yes, yes it is. Definitely not worth risking your PC security just for battlemode, which is laggy trash that doesn't warrant ANY anti-cheat because there's no incentive to win apart from going "aha, I had better ping this round".
Uninstalled the moment it wouldn't let me run the game without Denovo installing. Sorry guise, but companies will absolutely lie to you and utilize data collection software even when they tell you they aren't. Google, Apple, Samsung, and Amazon are both infamous for this behavior.

id can ♥♥♥♥ right off with that ♥♥♥♥. I don't even play your garbage-tier, half-assed multiplayer modes. That's not why I buy/play a DOOM game.
no its not!
there are ppl out there who look very closely at what such tools are searching for and what data they are sending and we all would already know if it would send data or personal informations what its not related to its usual nature, like spyware does.
like it was with the first version of origin or skype, as example.
everything else is just rumors...

u can have a look by urself! there are plenty of network monitors out there which will show u what which process will access to which data and what it sends.

Funny thing is, I only played battlemode 3 times, to get some extra XP during double XP weekend, the rest of my playtime was just single player. And now I'm unable to keep playing single player because some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ designed to deal with multiplayer.
Gaming in 21st century at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
This is Starforce all over again.
