The DLSS is still broken?
ever since the ray tracing update DLSS has been broken for me.
every time I launch the game my frame rate is ♥♥♥♥. i have to toggle of ray tracing and dlss then enable them again for it to work properly. Why has this not been fixed?

You're not giving much information about the PC you run it on. It might help if people knew the type of graphics card you are using, driver version, Windows version and other system spec's to break down what the cause might be.

First off - have you updated all your drivers properly (DDU) and run Windows Update to make sure you have all the latest Windows bug-fixes. What resolution are you running the game on? What detail settings do you use?

Anything you can share could help towards someone on here being able to advise or explain what is happening to your game.

3080 10gb
i7 7700k
2x8 3200mhz gskill trident z RGB
evga 850 GL2
OS drive samsung 840 evo
game drive samsung 860 evo
windows 10 home build v 21H2 OS build 19044.2251
Nvidia driver version 522.25
resolution 3840x2160 @120hz

I always use DDU. every driver version update has been the same issue. launch game frame rate is a slide show. have to turn off and ON DLSS and raytracing for fps to go back to normal.

I've had some issues with scaling in nVidia's drivers, causing framerate bombing. But 4k should be simple, especially with Vulkan. Have you verified your install files and tried reinstalling your redistributables (DirectX etc.)

Also, GPU Scheduling in Windows is temperamental with games and can cause some nasty spikes. Have you disabled GPU scheduling?

You have a very similar system to mine, except I use Ultrawide and a 3080Ti, with 32GB RAM and a i7 8700k. I am getting crazy high framerates with ray tracing and DLSS (quality). I am also using the latest nVidia driver. It sounds like a system thing more than a configuration issue. Like something else is going on with your PC, maybe.

well im sure its the nvidia driver and the game update. since i never had this issue beforehand. either way im getting a zen 4 platform soon with a 7600x so will see if it still does it.

No, it was the same update. And ever since it's release the problem was always the same: you don't have enough VRAM for these settings. "Ultra Nightmare" texture pool size + RT + 4K resolution can go over 10 GB hence your performance problems.

That makes sense. 16GB RAM (resizable bar enabled?) and 10GB VRAM is cutting it very fine for 4K ray tracing.

so explain to me why i play hours on end with no fps drops..like i said..its only when the game loads up, and i mean on boot not loading into level.

texture pool size makes no difference if i have it set to low or ultra nightmare..same thing everytime on boot fps is a slide show. for the record i keep it at ultra anyways

no it didn't

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/news/doom-eternal-ray-tracing-nvidia-dlss-upgrade-available-now/

then it was either another game update or driver related because i remember playing it with no issues at all.

Most likely It's just a side effect of memory reinitialization after settings change when the level is already loaded. While it works, I'm fairly sure it is not by design and therefore nondeterministic.

If this is actually true, a screenshot of low FPS with these settings and performance metrics set to "Ultra Nightmare" might help.

Every time I start the game, I also have to turn DLSS off and back on or my game drops to 45fps. Such a strange bug for such a well optimized game, no?

I hate vulkan based games doom eternal is not optimized well at all, even with the best hardware (13900k and 4090 and ddr5-6000) you would still feel stutters lag spikes and unpleasant stuff because this game is broken
I love it but I uninstalled it cuz it's unplayable
