BUT not for Battle Mode (that is Online)
would answering a third time change anything?
You think that but, buddy, allow me to introduce you to Halo LASO....
Anyhow I have clear Ultra Nightmare on Console (with all the Slayer Gates too) so I have a few things to say:
On PC is much easier because you can make the Slayer Broken AF with some Quick Swap macros and I have seen people beat UN on the Nintendo Switch version so the task is not impossible.
You can cheat without using external tools as you can save scrub through Ultra Nightmare but I heavily recommend against it, not for the "GAMER" creed but because it is not any fun. UN is a task that seems daunting but isn't, the game is really balanced around it and if you have beat any Contra came, namely Contra Hard Corps on the Mega Drive, it is essentially the same thing.
Unlike Halo LASO which is 100% about cheating, exploiting and doing stupid Speedrunner dog tricks.
The way to Clear Ultra Nightmare legit is to have one Extra Life Save and play it simultaneously with the UN save. From then on out you practice the levels on EX Mode until you feel comfortable and it is a better, much more fun experience and not time consuming at all. Cynic the Original has some of the best tips on how to clear UN and pinpoints all the toughest parts.
Once you clear Exultia without dying you pretty much get the gist of it and after you clear the filter level: Cultist's Base you are set for the challenge.
The Slayer gates are optional and most people will tell you to stay away from them since it is not worth the risk but IMO some are worth it for the extra Gun points which allow you to level up your arsenal quickly and only two are difficult: Cultist's base (Because of course it had to be that one) and Mars Core. The very last one is a treat because you can clear the level and go back to it with nearly infinite crucible charges.
I beg to differ. The only one I'm afraid of is Exultia. Yes, it's kind of easy but I still feel naked and fragile at that point, a little baby slayer. To a degree that still is true for Cultist Base, but less so because meathook.
Mars Core? I'm fully equipped at that point, I don't think it's difficult at all if you know what you're doing.
At the end it's all subjective.
Exultia is super easy because you can use the chainsaw as a poor man's crucible and deal with the dread knight. If you enter the arena with 3 pips, you can get another full charge with the two gas cans and deal with the dread knights.
Cultist's Base and Mars Core use the same layout and it is the most difficult one, in addition this arena favors the Marauder very well, it may just run at you and shot you.
Mars core was the last level I died in during Ultra Nightmare, do not underestimate it.
As I said, it's subjective. For me it's the scariest, no matter how objectively easy it is and each one after is easier than the one before. And of course, you shouldn't underestimate anything in UN, I know.
