One year pass is missing campaign mode?
I just purchased the one year pass pack which claims it has eternal as well as DLC packs. When I come to play campaign it has a shopping cart icon next to it and loads the steam store when I click it. Did I miss something in the fine print?

Yep you did. Year One Pass is only the (standalone) DLCs. Deluxe Edition is everything. Refund the Year One Pass if you still can.
Hundinger Jul 3, 2022 @ 5:12am
It's a season pass. It doesn't claim to have the campaign. You need to read a little more carefully before you buy. You aren't the first who makes that mistake though. You're options are now to either refund and then buy the deluxe which has everything or just buy the standard edition seperately.

Buy DOOM Eternal Year One Pass
Includes DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One and The Ancient Gods - Part Two campaign expansions and DOOM Eternal BATTLEMODE

Where does it say or even vaguely imply the Pass includes the base game?

Buy DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two
Includes The Ancient Gods - Part Two campaign expansion and DOOM Eternal BATTLEMODE

This is The Ancient Gods Part 2 and Battlemode.

Buy DOOM Eternal Year One Pass
Includes DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One and The Ancient Gods - Part Two campaign expansions and DOOM Eternal BATTLEMODE

This is The Ancient Gods Part 1, The Ancient Gods Part 2, and Battlemode.

Buy DOOM Eternal Standard Edition
Includes the DOOM Eternal Single Player Campaign and DOOM Eternal BATTLEMODE

This is just the Main Campaign and Battlemode. It does NOT contain either Ancient Gods expansion.

Buy DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition
Includes DOOM Eternal Single Player Campaign, BATTLEMODE, Year One Pass and Deluxe Edition Content

This is the Main Campaign. The Ancient Gods 1, The Ancient Gods 2, and Battlemode.

Deluxe Edition is the best bang for your buck.

All quoted information is taken from the store page. As Hundinger said, the Year One Pass does not claim to contain the main campaign. This is a misunderstanding on your part. I recommend refunding the Year One Pass if you can and getting the Deluxe Edition instead.

People are apparently misinterpreting the colon that follows "Includes Doom Eternal".

So many people made that mistake. I think you just need to misread the colon after Doom Eternal as a comma and it "vaguely implies" that it includes the main campaign. I'm playing fool's advocate here again. Fact is, it happens all the time and it wouldn't happen if the store page said "doesn't include the main campaign".

You'd (and should) still expect people contemplating buying the game to have at least very basic understanding of grammar.

Yeah, I'm just saying. Make the description fool proof and we all save a lot of virtual ink on this subject.

And OP, a tip for next time buying a game. Compare the editions. The fact that the standard edition that clearly contains only the single player campaign and battlemode is a bit more expensive than the year one pass should have made you think. Also the existence of a deluxe edition that's about as expensive as the year one pass and has about the same description with the important difference that it says "includes Doom Eternal single player campaign".

listings are quite deceptive. no one expects the base game to be the 3rd option in the store page while 1st and 2nd listings are just dlc. and 4th option the complete pack, and not even called complete pack.
so most people expect that the 1st offering includes base game.

apparently they thought its a good idea to invent battlemode as the base game, and everything else, main campaign included, as add-on. at the very least it should have a note that it doesnt include main story,

There's nothing deceptive here. Buying the wrong product is entirely the result of not reading or not understanding what was read. The responsibility is on the consumer. If there actually was something deceptive then you might have a point, but in this case there is not.

Everything comes with Battlemode so that no matter what you purchase you get access to Battlemode. Some people bought the main campaign by itself and then later go back to buy DLC, for which a separate listing makes sense.

I agree that the store page should list that the main campaign is not included in an item if the main campaign is not actually included.

the way they listed them is flawed.
those packs lead quite a lot of people buy the dlc without owning the base game. and tbh its pointless to buy the dlc without playing the main story. people buy them and realize that they dont include the main game, and then what to do other than buy the base game. they sell more dlc copies thanks to that. at least there is refund thanks to steam.

at the very least the img in store page is informative.

they should had either maintened this order i which is the normal order, or clearly note in the 2 cheap versions that they do not include main story and its just MP and dlc packs,
the way it is now is vague, and you have to do quite some research and reading the whole product page to know the contents of the 2 cheap packs.

I too bought the Year one pass. However, It states I own Doom Eternal, the Year one pass, and both DLC's.

Yet I go to campaign and its like Nope. You gotta buy it. And just for that. Doom Eternal is getting refunded. and not bought again.

You too bought the wrong package, and if you managed to refund the game but still won't buy the right package, I salute your nose-cutting-off-to-spite-your-faceability.
