Why it dont run on linux
Hi! i have just bought Doom Eternal, and i m trying to run it on linux (manjaro 22), why it dont run? Its sopposed to be perfectly compatible with linux using proton, thats why i bought it on steam; its so frustrating it doesnt open like other games at the moment; someone know what i must do? I have tried some times like in others games, but nothing, if its for "bethesda" i havent words.... about my pc, i played it on windows using the Xbox games pass, thats why i wanted to buy in steam, to use it on linux.

Was working perfectly for me on Ubuntu.
Try GloriousEggroll instead of Valve's Proton.

Runs fine for me on one laptop running Gnome (Ubuntu 21.10) & another running KDE (Kubuntu 21.10).

Check the reports from people running Manjaro on ProtonDB, specifically launch options.

Edit - And yeah, what StreamWhenGuy said - try latest ProtonGE as well.

I have tried the "experimental" version of Proton, nothing new....
About protonDB, only 1 person tried with manjaro, and its "open" at least, with me nothing, its "starts" but nothing happens, so strange.... i ll have to use windows to play doom eternal until i find the problem.
The big problem that i find, not only with doom eternal, its that every other game that have a "launcher" or something behind, just dont work, like for another example more than Bethesda with doom, the 2K launcher in civilization games, for them i have to use too windows 10 (for problems like this, i have a dual boot prepared).

https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
Drop it to /home/UserName/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d
Restart Steam and check ProtonGE instead of w/e Proton version you have currently enabled.

It will be some kind of desktop environment or launch option issue.

'only 1 person tried with Manjaro'

???

There's 169 reports on ProtonDB from people running/attempting to run DE on Manjaro & plenty of them seem to have the game running ?

Edit to add - If worse comes to worst, you could always switch desktops from KDE (which I presume you're running) to Gnome & install the 'disable unredirect fullscreen windows' Gnome extension.

Last update to the game isn't the issue. Still reckon it's not playing nice with your desktop...

Create the folder manually.
