DOOM Eternal
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GIVE US SAVE POINTS IN MASTER LEVELS PLEASE
I really love the master levels,
you can see how much work, love and creativity they put in them.
But why on Earth do we still don't have any save points?

Im not talking about the savepoints that you go back after death, I mean REAL savepoints that allow you to play a master level in segments and not always in one go.

I've heard countless times "Ugh, it's to test your skill" and Im still sure they confuse skill with something; even else after countless discussions.
"It's to test your endurance" -> You still get midsaves between arenas in one go, it doesn't test your endurance in combat, just how long you can stare on a screen.

"They want to test exactly this kind of endurance" -> If they wanted that, why aren't there any official modes outside of master levels that let you train this "skill"? There is f.ex. one live mode, but none of them outrigtht deny you your progress after logging out.

"It's the ultimate challenge" -> Buddy, I still beat the master levels, Im just not having fun after ~the first quater, because they're BLOODY LONG.

I don't mean "shorten the master levels", just give us the possibilty to rest, without the need to keep the computer on through the night.

It's sad, because the regular levels are perfectly pasted at ~45 minutes (where you can just go inbetween) but you are the games b itch if you dare to complete a MASTER level with it's overlong combat sections.

In summary; Doom Eternal is at the best during the Master Levels and I'd just like to enjoy more than the first few segments.
I can't stress it enough, but PLEASE give us real save points.

Hugo already said its a technical thing so they cant do save point for the master levels

So i guess its never gonna happen

And btw if they are make save point to the master level then its lose the spirit, Hugo even said master levels is not for everybody, dlc is for everyone

So if you are not have time to complete a level in 1 hour or something then just simple not start the level, play when you have time

It's actually due to a technical issue with how Master levels are linked to your individual save slots.
I personally think that Master levels should have been a game mode on it's own to avoid these issues.
it's not possible due to the way the engine works
Only possible for the game to save level progress during an unfinished campaign, not during level replays which is how master levels work.

It is very annoying but it's probably too much work at this point to get working, it should have been done better at first but I doubt they had any idea of how master levels would be post launch.

I had the same issue too, the fatigue moreso than Hugo's shenanigans. The best part is when the game crashes just about when you're to finish. "Ultimate challenge"

I can understand other people wanting this, but I enjoy the marathon "always on" feel of master levels.

It would be great if the option was there, but I love the relentless feeling. If you hold anything back, you struggle, and if you don't have enough you get tired. That's really cool to me and I love it.

Poo poo the endurance aspect of it if you like, but that's a characteristic of these MLs and it's great.

not all of us are professional gamers, not all of us have the kind of time to waste on a level like that. it's not great. the argument doesn't even apply to you at that point.

Nice cop-out, but I'm 100% not a professional gamer. You can see vids of play yourself and see that I'm not amazing at this game.

But if I sit down with a spare hour and want content that pushes me and gets to the point, it doesn't get much better than an ML. I can't save scum it and I get to flex my skills and endurance. So the argument definitely applies to me, because it's content designed the way I want.

If I don't have time, I'll do a Blood Swamp run or something.

I think you're getting off topic.

What makes you think that?

Because I tried to prevent this disscusion devolving into a question of skill.
While saving would be nice in ML's - we know at this point that it doesn't exist due to a technical limitation with the engine and how ML's work (and how replays work), so no point really complaining about it anymore. Although i do hope that they make that a thing in the future games they release if those games have something similar to master levels.

I mean hell, a quake reboot with master levels on top would be sick. Especially if they keep and improve rocket jumping for mobility instead of something like a meathook. As Mobility is probably the best thing in this game, and while i do want other id games to have sick mobility options - i don't want it to be a repeat of the previous games. ID games being different is what makes them all worth replaying imo.

Yes, you don't need save points so no one does.

My guy, listen. I generally like you, you are not a troll, and you do seem like a chill person... but can you seriously stop with this whole "I beat UN ez - look at this and admire my skill peasants" thing you got going on every post where someone has even a small gripe with the game?

We get it - it is easy for you and you are skilled at the game. Try to be a bit more humble about it tho. After all - most regulars here have done that aswell, no need to constantly show it to everyone. It's useful when someone who is a complete knobhead about the game - but this thread is about an actual flaw with the game. And while it might not be a big flaw or anything that serious - we gotta be able to critique even the things we think are great.
