I mean you may not like a small section of the second level's second half, but as far as I can remember there's not much more of that. It's just because of goofy, somewhat out of place looking platforms and fire traps deployed by the demons.
If you don't mind a few goofy looking things, the game is seriously pretty damn sick. Play to the very end before you give your final judgement of it.
tutorials are useful for first time players and helps a lot with giving nice tips. you can disable them
ammo system is different cuz game wantd you to usr chainsaw a lot.
platforming is a small overrated issue in this game. you might die a few times but you will do it
weak points are not only satisfying they also reward you in TAG2.
eternal is a hard game, but if you play it properly you will like it
I got so bored about the gameplay technique where glory kill is now used more as a farming tool and only way to really kill enemies quickly, than a achievement or well executed timely utility. The constant low health and low ammo warnings that are made to force you to swap weapons and make glory kills just makes game feel like simplified version of the game for players who have no time to learn mechanics and execute them without someone holding hand and constantly pointing "Do this now", "Now you need to do this", "Hey, did you see that this needs to be done now?"
I avoided all the reviews and other material so I don't get influenced from it. Only thing I really saw was just the overwhelming praising in the Steam Reviews claim in store front page, that made me to buy it from special sale for cheap. And I am just glad that I did as I wouldn't have been happy to pay full price about it.
The only thing that got stuck to my head now is the old joke of industry level:

It is great that there is people who like it, but for me it is more like a game that was designed for the consoles and then backported to PC. All the maps and levels are tight, tiny, and try to be a some 3D model master pieces with fancy graphical elements, it just doesn't work for me.
And I don't even know what is going on, but graphics set to maximum and everything still looks like playing a game from 2003. Nice great constant 120 FPS but it is nothing like I expected.
Did you play past level 3?
I started the fourth, but just couldn't continue the same.
The problems in the game is the core game mechanics, that levels, upgrades etc doesn't change. It is all about just repeating the same rearming, aiming, and jumping all over. If you don't do in the one way, it doesn't work.
I was forced to go through the third mission, but it just isn't fun. The game feels hollow and tactical gameplay is just not there. Creativity and freedom to execute everything is lacking.
Also tactical gameplay is not there?
How it gives you more freedom?
How it does allow you not to use chainsaw at all, not use any glory kills, not use any special jumping etc?
Damn, I'm getting scary at this.
The worst part of Doom Eternal is the first 3-4 levels before you get the majority of your kit and upgrades. The game is intentionally restrictive during this time to narrow your focus on mechanics before turning you loose with everything, and inevitably leaves a bad first impression in the process.
The "restrictive" gameplay is a common complaint for people who never make it to Super Gore Nest (level 5). It also just isn't true, especially when compared to 2016.
