Stuttering even at solid 60+ fps
For some reason i am getting stuttering even though my framerate is a solid 60 fps with v-sync on and around 75 with v-sync off. I discovered a temporary solution in which switching to windowed mode and then switching back to fullscreen mode fixes the issue, but i need to do this every time i launch the game or else i get stuttering again.

Does anyone know of a permanent fix for this issue or is this just something i will have to live with?

EDIT: One thing i forgot to mention is that whenever I switch between windowed and fullscreen modes, for some reason the screen resolution changes to 2715x1527 and i need to manually switch it back to 1920x1080. After some experimenting, it seems that it is actually this changing of the resolution up and then back down again that fixes the stuttering, not switching to windowed mode.

I think there was a graphics card driver update issue; because I have stuttering and low FPS with a 144hz panel and before I would consistently have no issues with framerate. I will have to investigate to actually figure out what is going on but that's as far as I have gotten.

That option is greyed out for me, so i assume it's already disabled.

Yeah, it's a pretty common solution that comes up whenever someone says they are getting stuttering. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to apply in my situation.

did you try disabling steam overlay?

Just use Display Driver Uninstaller and install a new driver.

Sounds like either frame pacing issues or something funky with vsync, it should fix it either way

Sure latest nvidia drivers dont have any issues and perform quite well, the difference is due to DDU which tends to solve most issues

It's obviously gamebar. Microsoft inserts an invisible overlay on all fullscreen applications. Figure out how to permanently disable it. Even if you turn it off under settings, you'll see the service is still running and it hooks the game execute.

It's known as ,"GameDVR," in windows 10/11 after 21h2.

It serves no function as AMD, Nvidia, and Intel all provide an overlay capable of doing exactly what GameDVR does. Unfortunately, it's been broken for about a year. And games like Doom Eternal suffer immense stuttering issues because of it.

While Steam plays nice with both Amd and Nvidia's software, GameDVR plays nice with noone.

Start>RUN>Regedit
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore

GameDVR_Enabled (1) <---Change to 0

Close, restart.

Nvidia and AMD both perform the same function as GameDVR, built in to your driver's software. Nvidia and AMD work with Discord overlay, most stream overlays, and Steam's overlay. There is simply no use for GameDVR in the modern era.

For Windows 10 (Latest) and Windows 11(post-21 update)
To fully disable Gamebar's Service you'll need to take ownership of this registry entry.
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsRuntime\ActivatableClassId\Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter

ActivationType (1) <---- Change this to 0, close, restart. Gamebar's actual parent service is now completely disabled at startup and can never run again. You will break any related program that requires this and sever the link. This can only be undone by you changing this value yourself in the future.

i dont get any stuttering in this game at all. i only get the fps drop randomly when booting up the the game or reloading checkpoints after a while. this is only when DLSS is enabled. turning it off and on again fixes the issue for me.. no idea why. have you tried turning on GPU scedualing? turning off windows game mod, game bar and gloably setting your Vsync to on and low latency to ultra in Nvidia control panel.

I already had that first registry value set to 0, and changing the second one didn't seem to do anything.
