Full Auto is only decent with Mastery. I like to play around with both and swap between them for weakpoint destruction and shell generation.

If you weaken enemies to a point you know you can kill them with full auto for practically no ammo cost or even gaining extra ammo, that's great. Yeah, we got chainsaw and now we also have the hammer, but you can also get extra extra shells and never ever run out of them at any point. Is it necessary? No. Is it fun and still kinda rewarding? Yes.

Also a bit related to the topic, people like to bring up how Micromissles, Mobile Turret, and Auto Shotgun are all ineffective compared to their alternative. What some don't realize is that the alternatives are great when you are using them in quick switching combos (except shield that one is actually broken), but not all players can quick switch well. They do less dps on their own, yes. But think about how much damage they do on their own without quick switching. They are actually really strong. We just get so good at quick switching we come to the conclusion that these mods are bad, when they are actually very powerful on their own and do not require quick-switching. Even if you dumped all 24 rounds of Full Auto on a Tyrant, he won't die but he is definitely close. That's effective for people that are not good at quick switching. But then again, you could just use sticky bombs for the same thing and actually kill it lol. That just means you shouldn't use it on full health enemies like I said earlier.

I think the only weapon mod in the game that truely outshines the other option is the chaingun shield.

All the others can be debated depending on playstyle, but the shield is just ludicrously good compared to mobile turret. It's DPS can even come close to the turrets if you combine the bash damage with primary fire.

Combat shotgun remains one of the most useful weapons in the game from start to finish, both mods are useful but maybe not for everyone.

I have yet to see anyone seriously use the full auto mod in a high level UN playthrough of the base game, discounting maybe the first level and beginning of the second level

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the way the barrels roll and the sound it makes lol. I think it would be a cooler mod if standard fire just became the altfire, so you would just switch to full auto and move around at high speed wielding a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fully auto shotgun. That would be dope

I like both. Sticky Bomb has more utility but Full Auto is super fun.

Here's a fun fact in support of Full Auto: Ice Bomb + Bloodpunch + Full Auto MELTS both phases of a Doom Hunter. In fact DPS can be so rad I've been in multiple situations where the DH doesn't even have a chance to detach from it's own sled, skipping the second phase entirely. Not to mention there is no actual weapon switching in this particular combo. No joke, the thing dies in under four seconds.

you can literally just replace the full auto with a super shotgun and it is more efficient while also only using 2 ammo

Yeah the super shotgun does more damage, over longer distances, and gives free armor. Tbh, I take free armor and decreased flame belch recharge speeds over, what, 6 free shells to replace the 12 I had to use to kill the damn thing?

It is my opinion honestly that the full auto shotgun should do more damage than the base combat shotgun, it should do .6x as much damage as the super shotgun and should have 2.15x the damage of the ss. That way it would be viable

Oh believe me, I don't intend to stop anyone from playing the hard meta. If that's your pleasure, you do you boo. Just providing an argument in the context of the thread's title. If the thread's title was "Combat Shotgun or SSG", it's pretty obvious which gun is the true bread winner here. *cough* *chaingun* *cough*

But even outside of this, I would also posit that my previous comment illustrates that there's more than one way to skin a cat with specific demons. A few people on here vehemently believe that Eternal pigeon holds players into very specific weapons, mods, combos, etc. And this simply isn't the case, even with the more underappreciated mods.

At the end of the day however, I'm having fun seeing what I can get away with in combat encounters without having to fall back on ultimate boom stickage. With that said, I do find it just a little funny that id tried (and kinda failed) at getting players to stop spamming the SSG like in '16.

The best way to buff auto in my opinion would be - consecutive hit damage increase. The more shots in a row you land on the same guy - the more dmg you do. That could make it a bit more fun.

Or they could give it a buff like the Micros have where if you kill with the shotgun, you do 33% increased damage
