Golden Shotgun Master Level
Greetings my fellow slayers!!! ^_^ I have been trying out that master level on UN and have been getting utterly annihilated. XD Does anyone have any tips??? I made it to the blue key at least. ^_^ I think I just need an idea to make life easier.

How often do you use Ice Bomb? Because I remember how much I underestimated on how useful it really is

Use super weapons, they are there for a reason. So far SGN is the hardest of the three available Master Levels, so it even makes sense to me: Master Levels need the tactical use of super weapons. Do Nightmare playthroughs and identify the riskiest arenas, then the enemy or enemies posing the biggest threat in them. Once you have your key arenas and demons, focus on eliminating them ASAP. For Example I always Crucible the first Tyrant on spawn in that infamous double Tyrant + Doom Hunter + Carcasses room.

Also keep in mind that the BFG and the Crucible work in very different ways. Never waste BFG on Tyrants, Barons or Doom Hunters. BFG is perfect when you simply have too many demons of various classes at the same time - it can kill 15-20 of them in a single shot. The Archvile is the only Super Heavy that dies from a BFG direct hit, but not if you miss him and he suffers only tendril damage. If you need to get rid of a Baron or a Tyrant, Crucible it. Don't Crucible Doom Hunters, it's a waste of charge.

190% this.

There are a total of 3 BFG cells on this level - if you can start your save with 2 cells (play a main campaign level and collect 2) then you have a total of 5 cells you can use throughout the level, which makes a MASSIVE difference.

There are also at least 2 crucible charges (can only think of 2 atm but I'm sure there's more). I would save these for problem encounters like the 2xTyrant + Doom Hunter + Carcass room, but they're also great on Archviles. Again, start the level with a fully charged crucible for at least 5 charges.

On the arena with a marauder that spawns 2x arachnotrons, the piece before it with massive amounts of gargoyles, imps and unwilling (and a totem), save the chainsaw ammo there until the end and wait for the pip to recharge, then collect it (so you leave with 2 pips). There's another chainsaw fuel at the bottom of the elevator, which gives you 3 pips. During the marauder fight, use the 3 pips to eliminate one of the arachnotrons. This makes the fight much easier.

Aside from that, it is a tough level, but I can tell you that practicing it took my play to the next level. Embrace the frustration and you'll come out a much better player on the other side!

I got excited and wrote arena by arena guide of how I did but it's a bit long and it's really just telling you what to do lol. That's what "any tips" does. Can you be more specific what exactly do you have problem with?

Also like others have said, you have a lot of super weapon ammo, use it wisely. If it's there, it doesn't necessarily mean you must use it there in that arena. You can backtrack. For example I used the first Crucible charge on the 2nd Tyrant in Doom Hunter room, then backtracked to pre-Marauder arena and picked another charge before I continued.

Same with BFG ammo. There's one in the first big arena where the secret is. I got through to open it but didn't use it there. It's much better to save it for the last fight. You can get into last fight with 2 Crucible charges and 3 BFG shots.

I can give you a somewhat comprehensive way of how i do it (I am not that good, but it works for me):

First arena: you can meathook to the tyrant, thus spawning the arachnitrons, then use icebomb + destroyer blade to damage the tyrant and eliminate the arachnitrons. And then frag falter + PB/Rocket the tyrant. The rest of the arena is open and as long as you are mobile and keep your stack up you will be fine.

Next is the carcass room. I instantly eliminate the two tentacles uptop, dropdown to the buff totem, destroy it and frag the room for stun. Go up and abuse rockets, stickies and an occasional plasma rifle to kill carcass until hellknights. Then falter them, destroyer blade, and PB+SSG to fully remove them.

Then the mist marauder room. I charge a destroyer blade once the invi. whiplashes spawn, icebomb and remove them, and then it's the usual marauder dance, with a few more grenades and meathooking the zombies to move from one side of the arena to the other.

The main arena: I go straight to the key placement area, icebomb both of the cybermancubus that go there, kill them, focus down another one. Then switch to arbalest+PB to deal with the pain elementals, and keep the arbalest to dealt with cacos later. Besides that the arena again gives you plenty of space.

Now the first chokepoint: I usually stun and PB+rocket the first tyrant, then use crucible on the second one, while ice bombing the doom hunter, and then deleting him.

The next area is easily cleared with the PB headshot explosions, as it is all fodder.

I make sure i got 3 chainsaw pips before the next marauder. And i use it to eliminate one of the two arachnitrons that spawn in that area once the marauder takes enough damage.

Now the second chokepoint: I quickly sticky the two cacos, freeze+bloodpunch+ssg+rocket the sled, kill him, lock on on the dreadknight, frag+bloodpunch the cybermanc., restack and focus on the specters.

Further down the toxic pathway, i use another crucible charge on one of the tyrants (since you get a refilll here) and take the other one out by simple combos.

Next area of importance is the mist+zombies+mancubus room. Don't get cornered, abuse flamebelch, and the moment the normal mancubus spawns, rush the totem.

The next area is again an open space, and you can easily bottleneck the enemies in the underground passage where the extra life usually is. Just remember to take out the archvile once he spawns as quick as you can. Icebomb + 2x lockon.

Next more difficult area is the mechazombies + cacos + dreadknights. Usually falter and destroyer blade does the trick. Abuse shield and stickies aswell.

Invisible whiplash area is easy, just frag + destroyer blade.

Double marauder toxic pit: Try to combo the first marauder with falters if you can, then move from one side of the tunnel to the other one, using stickies on retreat while getting the refill for your rad suit, and comboing at the ends of the tunnel.

Final arena is.... okay. So. Up until this point i don't use the bfg. This gives me 2 charges in my inventory, one in the secret tunnel thingy, and one near the buff totem spawn, plus 2 crucible charges. This makes the entire encounter a joke. Just keep 2 bfg blasts for the archies, and keep in mind that one of them tends to escape to the under they keyplacement area or in the corners of the upper section.

Escape sequence is pretty much: Use shield, and pray.

I know it is not the best way to approach it, and can be done way more efficiently, but it worked on my UN runs.

Even if you don't skip the parts he did, you could still learn a lot from that.

Hell, I did. That was awesome and I'm totally gonna use the trick with the onslaught powerup for the double marauder fight.
You all are absolutely amazing. ^_^ Thank you for all the responses. After reading up a lot of this I can kind of see where I am messing up a bit. Also yeah I tend to use all my arsenal. Definitely gonna do some more recon and then attempt it again. I truly appreciate all these awesome helpful messages. :The_Slayer: :neoncool: :pandastunned:
