doom 1 and 2 save dont work in doom eternal

so when i realised doom 1 and 2 are available in the fortress of doom and since i always wanted to try those games i decided to play then however i realised that the save system is broken they only work while in game and when i leave the game ( doom eternal ) they disappear so i am forced to restart from scratch for doom 1 since it is split in 4 episodes it is not a problem and i just play each episodes in one sitting using the saves as a checkpoints however since doom 2 is not episodic i cannot do that and honestly i dont have the time to do doom 2 in one session so my question is : Is this a bug from my part or the dev forgetting about this and is there a fix a mod or something ?

you should just buy doom 1-2.
they are very cheap and theres plenty of mods that make the game more modern and less dos

I'm pretty it works, but after you save in the og DOOMS you have to play one of the DOOM Eternal levels, then you can quit and it should save

you should really just buy the games, they are super cheap and this sounds like a waste of time if anything

To save you have to save in classic Doom, and than exit Eternal to main menu. It works every time. When you log back in classic Doom you save file will be there.

the problem i am little short on cash my country lebanon is having a economic crisis venezuela style the value of the national currency compare to dollars has become 10 000 it was 1500 before the crisis and it is getting worse the banks became so short on cash that they dont allow money transfer anymore . i only bought doom eternal out of frustration because i wanted to gift myself one last gift tbh i consider pirating everything else from now on

You actually don't need to buy them, their WAD files are included with Doom Eternal.
Just find them in your Doom Eternal directory, for me for example they are here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DOOMEternal\base\classicwads

Now just download a source port like GZDoom, load up those WAD files and have fun: https://www.zdoom.org/downloads
