I guess the "the only thing they fear is you" toward Doomguy is more as him being the strongest foe hell ever managed to face through all this time, but nothing says it cant be other Slayers strong enough to somehow deal with demons, even if on smaller scale such as at DOOM 3.
Still, rising the marine speed is the only way for DOOM 3 to feel like DOOM, but rising on normal campaign maps makes it feel cheap so it is better creating custom maps with larger areas and more demons per area, then DOOM 3 feels like DOOM.
But, how the Soulcube ends up on the Fortress of Doom = good question.
I'd love for some prequel content tbh. The divinity machine powers are just an attempt to explain why Doomguy can do the ♥♥♥♥ he does - something completely unnecessary to Doom IMO. Doom is all about carrying a massive arsenal with tons of ammo - no explanation required.
I had already when I purchased Eternal but the base game, and I think even the Deluxe, dont come with the classics (as far as I know).
Go to steamapps/common/DOOMEternal/base/classicwads and the IWADs are right there
That’s also not what I mean lol
I mean the game comes with the WAD files and you can put them into whatever sourceport you want
Doom 3 used Id tech 4
Doom eternal used Id tech 7
No matter how much time you put into making maps for doom 3 back in the day no matter how much you stressed the engine or how much you changed... the comparison of gameplay between the two will never actually exist
The "distance covered and speed" is at least about the same as it would be Doomguy speed (from classic DOOMs) but also running on the ground.
It is not a matter of "how much I stress it out", you change properties of it, you change the gameplay entirely.
The only real stress was the amount of demons, and that I can tell you, it was way more demons per area at the same time than Eternal, much like the insanities I used to do at DOOM 2016 with snapmaps, sort of "Brutal DOOM style" from classic DOOMs.
The gameplay sort of resemble that of Eternal as this way I could fight mostly in the air jumping everywhere, I also could not grab on ledges neither had SSG hook, so my plataforming would have to be way more precise.
Onbiously, I created maps around this gameplay too to make it hard, punishing and fun for me.
