Why do people have to post ♥♥♥♥ like this and ruin things.
Now I have to stop using the amber theme.
Where does this ♥♥♥♥ come from? Do you all just blabber the same what hugo blabbers? Did you even play DOOM 2016? Just couldn't just use one weapon to get through the game, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially not on UV upwards.
He is talking ♥♥♥♥ to defend the stupid ammo restriction, which was completely pointless and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the flow of the game.
Except that's totally true. Many players even did runs with a single gun. And you can indeed play Doom 2016 using only the Super Shotgun as most players were only playing like this. The weapon is incredibly powerful and there is way more than enough ammo for it. And indeed, the rune giving infinite ammo indeed makes the matter worse, despite the ammo count being already absurdly high.
I never only used the Super Shotgun, just watch any regular play footage of DOOM 2016, this is a false pretense. Ammo count wasn't absurdly high, it was normal.
Of course there is always this one freak who plays the entire game with one weapon. These do not represent the majority of gamers.
The rune is ♥♥♥♥ though, ill give you that.
But overall many people just mindlessly repeat what Martin is saying, without considering that his whole argument is flawed from the start.
Limiting ammo in a DOOM game to ensure players use all weapons is just plain stupid, you need to use every weapon either way, there are just weapons that are used more than others, and that is completely normal, as some weapons are workhorses other have more specific roles.
The new ammo system just makes everything more grindy. They could kept the initial ammo numbers and the system would still have worked. Just play with the backpack mod and tell me honestly flow of combat isn't much better.
I have no real issue with Doom 2016 ammo system in first place, so the backpack mod didn't make DE better, just different (and easier). Also, I don't think limiting ammo is an issue. After all, my favorite classic Doom wads are the ones that limit the ammo and make the resources scarce.
That being said, I was mainly reacting to the Single Weapon/Super Shotgun discussions. They aren't new. They started just several days after the release of Doom 2016 and actually, with everything that was said during this time, I'd even go as far as to say that, actually, it's Hugo Martin that started to repeat what the community was saying.
iirc this is something Hugo said as well, when players find that item that solves all their problems, they're gonna use it for the whole game if given the chance. Obviously not everyone and not every game is the same, but at least for FPS games it's pretty safe to say that's the general trend. DOOM2016 was mostly like this too, and it's certainly fun and I still love the game, but Eternal couldn't be just more of the same.
Forcing players into a certain playstyle is not necessarily a bad thing if it funnels them into the so-called "fun zone", like Eternal does.
Doom16 was a fine reboot, wasn´t perfect but all in all did a great job of reviving the Doom franchise while paying tribute to its roots.
Eternal is an ugly mess and it gets worse and worse with every update/Dlc.
been saying this since release while everybody else was like shut up Eternal is the best thing ever...lol
the so-called “fun zone” is a cesspool of bad unfun mechanics throw together without any real coherent vision of what makes a Doom game DOOM anymore, the Mario jumping sections (that nobody asked for..) are annoying and boring af, I pretty much dislike everything Eternal introduced to the serie.
it feels all so mindlessly tacked-on and mixed up from other games/ips without respect of the original vision anymore.
bit Sekiro here, bit Overwatch or Destiny there, bit Mario jumps in-between, etc.…but where the HELL is DOOM??
gone for now, fortunately there is Prodeus.
Yeah Prodeus is looking great, needs some balancing though, but overall very promising. Puts eternal to shame in terms of atmosphere and immersion.
Oh no an opposing opinion, quick insult them! That'll give anything you have to say merit /s
If you honestly think fanboy is an insult, you must be a really sensitive one... It's OK no need to start crying.
