Immora/boss fight were dissapointing yes. And I think the hammer is OP. But just like the other super weapons I can just not use it.
But the real problem is they nerfed TAG1 Nightmare.
the worst thing of all is that update 5 messed up a lot of stuff, the only necesary nerf was the blood maykr and it was a bit too much
all the rebalance should be applied for all diffs but nightmare, if ID wants to catter casual players, right, do it, but dont mess with skilled players, we only play on nightmare or ultra nightmare, and casual players dont go past ultra violence
The new demons are very fun and interesting, new baron is so enjoyable to fight.
The levels i do enjoy but reclaimed earth felt kinda short but immora's intro is just so good, i think immora is pretty good, disappointed with the hell soldiers tho.
The hammer is such a good tool that it pretty much makes most fights not that tough seeing that it's a panic button.
The World Spear is a good level, but it's missing something. It's weirdly paced compared to Ancient Gods Part 1. It's almost too serene... too easy. The second half of the level (after the Dragon ride) is far better than the first half. I'm thinking they wanted to just do a woodlands style map. Thing is, it's not Doom (or at least the good parts).
Reclaimed Earth is a bad level. Probably one of the worst in all of Doom Eternal. It's washed out and sterile. I get what they were trying to do, but it doesn't work. It comes off looking cheap and rushed.
Immora is an all round excellent level. I wish it were longer though. But the idea of a "Hell Ruling class" living in a technologically advanced civilization was pretty great, even though a lot of the interior geometry is recolored Makyr tech.
As far as enemies go... again... kind of cheap. Cursed Prowler, Stone Imp and Screecher are all cool enemies, but they're straight forward palette swaps of original monsters. Again... "cheap". I do like to think the Stone Imp is a reimagined version of the Doom 64 Nightmare Imp.
The Riot Soldier is a good reimagining of the Doom 2 Chaingunner. They just need to attack more. They don't do much. They just sand their with their shield. This game and its shields is annoying. It would be a better enemy if it just attacked a lot and was dangerous to get in line of sight of. But it is "all new". So that's one.
The Demonic Troopers.... I don't understand the point of these guys. They just explode. But I'm pretty sure their art assets are pulled over from Doom 2016 multiplayer. Soooo. kinda cheap.
The Armored Baron is all neew on the outside, b ut the inside is the old Baron. I like i. It's a good addition.
So in terms of enemies, there is really like, 1.5 all new assets. Of course, the Dark Lord is all new too.
Weapons? Well... the hammer, which is awesome.
Is it bad? No not at all. But Ancient Gods Part 1 was lavishly done. This feels like a real good rough draft.
I think the next thing they should do is retrofit the additions and mob pacing from Ancient Gods Part 1 and 2 into the base game.
it feels like the spirit begins to posess other demons MUCH QUICKER to compensate for the lack of more higher power demons, which i kind of like, tests reflexes a lot better and relies on you having that microwave beam ready at all costs
i get the changes bothering people (i saw noone talk about this but they did similar things to the base game on nightmare) but im not bothered personally. the game still kicks my ass which is all that matters. unless im bad. in which case whatever lol. im still having fun, that's all that matters.
im dissapointed, but i wouldnt be mad if it wasnt for all the unnecesary demon nerfs and re balance of dlc1
the hammer being as OP as it is is what killed the fun for me and most of the playerbase
Same here, 2016 bosses felt simple and good and worked well, shoot the boss, dodge attacks and kept simple instead of moronic gimmick fights that are not enjoyable and make no sense.
Eternal's boss fights always suck and are so so uninspired, worst contender really is simply all of them but Khan Maykr fight stuck out to me as absolutely braindead
