I don't like glory kills
And I don't like enemies shooting out powerups like a glorified pinata after I kill them, takes away the immersion and makes it feel too video gamey vs feeling like I'm actually in a battle for survival against monsters.

Am I alone in that sentiment?

I'm not a huge fan of glory kills either, but they are necessary unfortunately.

Yes, you are.

A game doesn't need to be immersive. Doom especially shouldn't be immersive.

It's not meant to be a battle for survival, it's a combat puzzle with engaging and varied mechanics. The "video gamey" aspects are what made Doom 2016 great, and are what look to be making this even better.

Don't mind the glory kills, but man those colours. What the ♥♥♥♥ were they thinking :steamfacepalm:

Never understood why people don't (is it don't or doesn't with people? ) like glory kills.

Glory kills ask you to expose yourself moving to a position X and reward you with life. It's just a risk-reward system. You still have to shoot the demons.

Obnoxious much? Of course he's not alone.

As shocking as it's going to sound to you, it's entirely possible to have a negative opinion about something otherwise amazing.

Not everything has to be 100% black or 100% white.

Yeah you're alone in that sentiment

I've always been a fan of the glory kills but you aren't actually forced to use them, so if you dislike them that much, don't perform them at all to begin with.

I think it's "don't", because "people" represents a group of human beings.
If the uncountable noun represents a group of things (for example: "furniture", "news" and "luggage") you can use "doesn't".

friendly reminder you can turn off the glory kill highlight and just go by the animations when you can glory kill them. Wouldn't be surprised if you could make the pick ups "invisible"

Well, Doom Eternal IS a video game... So there's that. If you play Doom for immersion I've got bad news for ya...

I get where you're coming from, I'm a massive fan of realism myself, but this is no game for realism to be implemented. I really like glory kills though.
Now, if you don't want to be seeing enemies flashing you can just disable that. And also no one is forcing you to perform glory kills, just like no one is forcing you to use the entirety of your arsenal.
As far as the item drops go, yeah you'll have to get used to that. You might not like it but it is an absolutely necessary feature that's in the core of the game. This is such a fast paced and unforgiving game that also wants to make you kill in order to survive, the pickups that are placed around the maps won't be enough no matter your game mode.

I don't know, if you play it and start having fun I don't think these things will bother you in the longrun.

hmm interesting, didn't know I could turn off the flashing glow

Also I realized why I hate glory kills ....it's essentially a QTE

It's not a QTE at all. It's entirely optional and isn't randomly thrown into your face.
